Summary: Individuals in the job are responsible for assisting Tropical Financial Credit Union in the achievement of its purpose of guiding members successfully through the financial marketplace. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient and well-maintained working environment for employees and members alike.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Provide service that meets the Service Standards defined by Tropical Financial Credit Union as measured by the Internal Service Survey; annual goals are establish through the Performance Management Process.
  • Develops and maintains a preventative maintenance program. Schedules internal inspections to keep properties and equipment operating with little or no interruptions thus avoiding costly repairs. Responds promptly to maintenance requests and performs routine maintenance as required.
  • Assists branches and departments with facilities issues as required.
  • Performs regular testing of the emergency generator, cooling system, utilities incoming and outgoing valves and switches, building fire and safety systems.
  • Performs routine maintenance and repairs on lighting, sprinkler systems, locks, plumbing, electrical, carpentry and minor HVAC work.
  • Assists with property upkeep and curb appeal.
  • Adjusts, repairs, or replaces items as required.
  • Completes construction and renovation projects on a limited basis.
  • Responds quickly to maintenance or property issues avoiding costly downtime and risk issues.
  • Ensures department policy as it relates to facilities is adhered to.
  • Performs general building services and ensures properties are kept clean of debris, and presentable at all times i.e. pressure cleaning, window cleaning, painting etc. Additionally, regular safety inspections are to be performed to avoid risk issues.
  • Performs minor repairs on building, grounds and equipment. Monitors to assure satisfactory appearance of grounds and buildings. Assists in evaluating and recommending the purchase of new and replacement equipment as necessary. Assists in monitoring the performance of vendors, and contractors.
  • Must be able to meet flexible schedule, including on call status when required especially having the ability to respond to building emergencies when needed.
  • Must be able to drive to various locations following state and local laws.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • BSA Compliance: every employee is required to uphold the credit union’s compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions within TFCU will take into consideration the awareness of unusual or suspicious activity that is relevant to the department.
    In addition to any other assigned training courses, online BSA and OFAC courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and/or Compliance Departments.

Position Requirements

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education is required (GED).
  • Five to seven years experience in maintenance/building services.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License.
  • General knowledge of routine maintenance procedures, OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, minor electrical and plumbing skills, building safety systems, and emergency building systems.
  • Understanding of inventory, records and facilities processes.
  • Knowledge of personal computers in a Windows environment, preferably Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Interpersonal skills to interface effectively with staff at all levels, and external vendors as necessary.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and keep a safe and neat work environment.
  • Highly motivated and self-starter who works independently without supervision, as well as a team player with all members of the organization.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrates professionalism and maintains confidentiality regarding issues of a sensitive nature.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to handle or touch. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to focus.
