Diversity at our agency means fostering a workplace in which individual differences are recognized, appreciated, respected and responded to in ways that fully develop and utilize each person's talent and strengths.   Position Substance Use Specialist   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Location Surf Vets- Coney Island   Salary $57,500-$60,000/yr.   Days/Hours Monday and Thursday 1pm-9pm and 9am-5pm Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday   Description Concern Housing is looking for a Substance Use Specialist that will be responsible for providing support and assisting the supportive tenants recovering from substance use issues at various stages of change.  Duties and Responsibilities: Meeting with supportive tenants to evaluate their substance abuse and readiness for change Identifying issues and helping the supportive tenants create recovery plans, in conjunction with Surf Vets Place support staff Providing recovery-based education to Supportive tenants and staff utilizing OASAS best practices.  Teaching coping mechanisms and relapse prevention skills Leading group/individual sessions Referring the supportive tenants to veteran specific support groups in the community Assessment, evaluation and intervention Crisis Intervention Reporting and record keeping Consultation with other professionals Setting up aftercare plans when necessary Meeting with family members and providing guidance and support whenever necessary Other duties as assigned by Program Director and Supervisor Remain current with all Agency required compliance documents and trainings Salary: $57,500-$60,000/yr.   Position Requirements Requires a Bachelor’s degree or CASAC plus 2 years’ experience in Social Work or other mental health environment.  Valid driver’s license preferred.
