GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The Motor Vehicle Manager manages, organizes, and directs the Motor Vehicle Division and oversees the daily operations of a branch location. The Motor Vehicle Manager provides leadership and the perfection of the administrative and technical functions to the processes of motor vehicle division. The Motor Vehicle Manager collaborates with motor vehicle leads to meet goals and expectations of the members of the motor vehicle division. The Motor Vehicle Manager promotes training and job development, actively mentoring and coaching the motor vehicle leads and team while empowering each employee to meet their potential.

SUPERVISION:

The Motor Vehicle Manager directly supervises the two (2) Lead Motor Vehicle Specialists. The Motor Vehicle Manager mentors the Leads Motor Vehicle Specialist for the successes of the 2 motor vehicle teams.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Motor Vehicle Operations:

  • Oversees all the daily operations of the motor vehicle division.
  • Provides leadership to the motor vehicle division through goal and policy development that align with the Clerk & Recorder’s Office mission and values.
  • Develop policies for the motor vehicle division that comply with Colorado Statute, motor vehicle rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, while successfully executing these policies.
  • Ensures security procedures are followed; all procedures related to data/document retention, financial reporting, and monies/revenue. Responsible for maintaining and archiving State and County records.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with the Clerk & Recorder and the managers to set and achieve strategic goals in the office.
  • Oversees and provide analysis needed for the motor vehicle budget.
  • Participate with committees and working groups as fit for motor vehicle as assigned by the Deputy or Clerk & Recorder.
  • Assist with Garfield County Elections
  • Complete special projects assigned by Deputy or Clerk & Recorder.
  • Attend CCCA conferences and State meetings.

Other duties as assigned.

  • Leadership: Experienced and proficient in leadership practices, and works independently, creates, and promotes innovative decisions for the successes of the department.
  • Coaching: Provides the team with effective training that motivates and empowers each team player. Responsible for recruiting a staff of excellence; responsible for the yearly evaluation of staff and goals with clear directions toward goals.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Postsecondary education including major coursework in Business Administration, Management, Computer Technology, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in all areas of a motor vehicle division; or equivalent experience that would provide the necessary skills to lead a motor vehicle division. One (1) year of supervisory experience with demonstrated success. *

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License

Work environment is primarily office based and requires extended periods of sitting.

REQUIRED TRAVEL

Work is conducted in a variety of County buildings located throughout the County. Travel between worksites is required. Occasionally, the position requires travel for site visits, trainings, or other meetings.

WORK HOURS:

Monday through Friday 8:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Exceptions may apply.

TECHNOLOGY:

Computer and relevant software applications; standard office equipment, email, and relevant databases.
