POSITION SUMMARY

The Direct Marketing Manager (DMM) prepares and executes campaigns for the acquisition of our wines directly from the winery. Using traditional and digital media, (direct mail, websites, membership, email, and social media) the DMM manages global direct sales opportunities using highly customized and targeted outreach. The role ensures the proper scheduling, back-end data management, collateral development, and management of the systems required to complete these campaigns. With the support of the Direct Marketing team, the DMM manages all customer service support for patrons. The DMM is responsible for our subscribed allocation membership program with a focus on acquisition, engagement, and retention.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Campaign Management

  • Executes direct marketing campaigns (creative development, list management, segmentation, production management, email templates, etc.).
  • Establishes and reports on processes for tracking critical business metrics.
  • Develop strategies to grow organic website traffic while respecting the Opus One image.
  • Works closely with key vendors and consultants to successfully complete annual campaign plans.
  • Expands corporate gifting program.

Website

  • Optimizes the functionality (front and back-end) and content of the Opus One websites.
  • Identifies and prioritizes areas for ongoing website improvements, QR code and hidden page development, and other technical advances.
  • Ensures accurate on-line product setup for all shopping carts, including product data, pricing, shipping tables, duties calculation tables, and product imagery.
  • In collaboration with outside vendors, maintains and enhances the Opus One website including user experience upgrades, new e-commerce functions and reporting.
  • Collaborates with Communications Coordinator to update website copy and images.
  • Monitors, analyzes, and reports site traffic, page delivery speeds, and Google Analytics

Customer Data Management & Analytics

  • Engages with IS team to measure and report against critical success metrics for all direct campaigns.
  • Manages the customer database within CRM by setting and modeling standards for data entry and maintaining data integrity.
  • Manages the quality and consistency of data captured from both direct sales and from visitation at the winery.

Management and Customer Service

  • Leads the Direct Marketing Team to deliver consistent patron satisfaction during and after campaigns and ensures that all points of contact are in keeping with the standards of Opus One.
  • Actively provides customer service and order capture/processing and follow up during campaigns and peak sales periods.
  • Recognizes potential efficiencies in campaign and customer service processes and procedures, enacts appropriate changes with IS support as required, and documents accordingly.
  • Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and other department team members.

Financial and Strategic Planning

  • Support the Director of Digital Marketing during planning cycles.
  • Participate in management and planning meetings representing Direct Marketing.

Additional Functions:

  • Maintain, update, and expand knowledge of viticulture, enology, and the winery by participating in educational trainings offered by Opus One and outside sources.
  • Speak knowledgeably about Opus One vintages, representatives, distributors, and retailers to better assist customers in the selection of wine or wine-related items.
  • Conduct tours of the winery as necessary and appropriate.
  • Flexibility of schedule including weekends and evenings
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five (5) years of wine managerial experience (combination of luxury DTC, membership management, and wine-related IT optimal).
  • B.A or B.S degree in marketing or a related field
  • Proven leadership skills with ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Knowledge and experience with DTC compliance, campaign execution, order fulfillment, customer service, and membership programs.
  • Skilled in collaborating across multiple functions with flexibility and the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Strong knowledge and proficiency in data software: Microsoft Office Suite (required), and Microsoft Dynamics CRM, Commerce7, and Google Analytics, MS Excel Skills.
  • Clear communication skills and comfortable working within all levels of the organization

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or marketing discipline preferred.
  • Foreign language skills (French, Japanese, German, or Italian).
  • Knowledge of viticulture, winemaking, wine marketing.
  • Experience using Photoshop, WordPress, Commerce7, MS Dynamics, HTML, and Asana.

COMPENSATION: Base Compensation Range: $92,000 – 122,000 USD annually*

* The base compensation range is base salary only. In addition to base compensation, all roles are eligible for individual performance bonus and company bonus that range from role to role.
