Summary

At Child Care Resource & Referral of Midwestern Illinois our Eligibility Specialists support families to access child care in their work to determine and maintain eligibility for families receiving financial assistance for child care through the IDHS Child Care Assistance Program. In addition to job duties related to information verification and processing, Eligibility Specialists provide customer support to our parent and provider community to assist families in understanding the Child Care Assistance Program and support our provider community who participate in the Child Care Assistance Program.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Review and process documents (ie applications, income information, schedules) to determine and communicate initial and ongoing eligibility of families to receive child care payment assistance.
  • Provide customer service (phone based and face-to-face) to clients, child care providers, and the community regarding services of the Child Care Assistance Program.
  • Have working knowledge and understanding of Illinois Department Human Services’ policies and procedures as they pertain to the Child Care Assistance Program.
  • Maintain confidentiality of agency, client, and child care provider information.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of other social services available to parents and child care providers.
  • Maintain assigned caseload of subsidized child care services for both parents and child care providers as contracted by IDHS.
  • Review and authorize child care payments for child care providers.
  • Proficiently utilize Illinois Department of Human Services database management systems to complete and maintain accurate records within assigned caseload.
  • Complete 15 hours of professional development training annually
  • Perform related duties as required.
