SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Magical Forest Event Manager F&B, the Food Service Lead is responsible for daily inventory, and reporting items needed for ordering: food, drinks, and food prep and serving goods required to provide 100% of the food service function for both HallOVeen and the Magical Forest. This also includes private parties and park buyouts. This position is responsible for adherence of the staff schedule for all of the seasonal food staff, as directed by the Magical Forest Event Manger F&B. This position is responsible for maintaining full compliance of food safety and sanitation laws, including those related to storage, preparation and service of food.  Duties will also include food service sanitation.

There are evening hours and weekend responsibilities with this position that may require extended hours. This is a seasonal position through the months of September 2023 - January 2024 utilized to support the Magical Forest.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist the nightly food service workers and engage community partners in the spirit of their volunteer service and reward the community partners with compliments and encouragement
  2. Oversee daily operations of food concessions including kitchen and outdoor food preparation areas for both the Magical Forest and HallOVeen events
  3. Assist with maintaining the pre-established inventory of food, bread, beverages, paper goods, etc.
  4. Adhere to all Clark County Health Department regulations.
  5. Secure and maintain walk-in and freezer space needed for inventory, knowing that it may be necessary for frequent food drop offs or pick- ups during busier weeks
  6. Be able to receive food delivery and pick-ups and coordinate with necessary parties.
  7. Assist the MF Event Manager F&B with food staff scheduling to assure labor budget guidelines are met.
  8. Coordinate private party and park buy-out information with the MF Event Manager F&B to ensure all client expectations are met.
  9. Have all staff and necessary preparations complete and ready for park opening.
  10. Monitor food production levels throughout the evening to reduce waste.
  11. Responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of kitchen and outer buildings. Assuring that upon closing for the evening staff must properly store food items, wash all dishes, turn off and clean all equipment, fryers and grills, organize refrigerators and freezers, sweep and mop floors and properly dispose of all garbage and recycling. The kitchen must be clean and ready for use by the JDP students that utilize the kitchen daily.
  12. Able to work in varying food locations indoors and outdoors with various temperatures.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  1. Must have a working knowledge of the Southern Nevada Health District policies and procedures.
  2. Knowledge of culinary practices and food safety
  3. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  4. Ability to share work areas with individuals with developmental disabilities and their staff.
  5. Ability to evaluate and act calmly and appropriately to emergency situations.
  6. Prioritize work load in order to meet strict deadlines.
  7. Must maintain a professional demeanor and uphold confidentiality.
  8. Must possess social discernment to assess and understand other’s reactions and behaviors
  9. Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  10. Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: Three - Five years verifiable work experience in the food service field.
  • Required: Minimum of two years managing a staff.
  • Required: Current Nevada Driver’s License
  • Required: Southern Nevada Health District Food Handlers Card.
  • Preferred: Prior experience with developmentally disabled individuals.

  • Must possess excellent customer service skills and social perceptiveness to respond in a calm, kind and professional manner to common inquiries, criticisms or complaints while working in a fast-paced and noisy environment.
  • Must have a positive and enthusiastic outlook and a commitment for excellence in work.
