Description

Federal Contract Requirements: Provide proof of COVID-19 Vaccination. Must be a U.S. Citizen or a Lawful Permanent Resident. Must be at least 21 years old.


JOB PURPOSE: The Deputy Director for Children’s Services at the Pecos Children’s Center Influx Care Facility will oversee and manage a team of professionals providing essential services to unaccompanied children who have recently arrived in the United States. This role will ensure that the shelter residents receive the necessary mental health care, case management, educational support, and recreational activities as required by the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s Policy and Procedures.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the mental health services team, ensuring mental health staff are conducting required ORR assessments, and providing weekly individual and group sessions to all children.
  • Oversee the case management team, ensuring that clients are released from care in a safe and timely manner, receive regular communication with their family members, and regular update on their case.
  • Oversee the educational programs offered to clients, ensuring that the educational team is providing the required assessment and educational activities.
  • Oversee the programming/recreational activities offered to clients, ensuring that they have access to safe and appropriate activities that promote physical and mental well-being.
  • Collaborate with Federal Stakeholders to ensure that the program is meeting its contractual requirements and that clients’ needs are met.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that ensure the smooth operation of the shelter's mental health, case management, education, and recreation activities.
  • Ensure all services are provided in a culturally sensitive and trauma-informed manner.
  • Provide coverage for other PCC Deputy Directors as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
Graduate degree in social work, social sciences, public health, non-profit management, or related field from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred, Bachelor’s degree in these fields is required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience relevant to the position and working with vulnerable, immigrant, or migrant populations.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive supervisory & director responsibilities.
  • Minimum 3 years of ORR experience working with unaccompanied shelter programs.

LANGUAGE(S):

  • Bilingual Spanish Preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Communication skills. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, is well versed in departmental procedures and policies, and can discover ways to do the job more efficiently.
  • Computer skills. Needs to have excellent computer skills. Proficiency in all Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and MS Teams.
  • Interpersonal skills. This position will spend a lot of time working with PCC Departments, directors and other Federal partners and must be able to develop positive relationships with these individuals.
  • Organizational skills. This role will have multiple PCC related projects consistently. They must show flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

ATTENDANCE:

Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined at the employer’s sole discretion. Works business hours but position requires support before and after workday and weekends as assigned.

LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record.

VEHICLE: Not Required

OTHER:

Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates.

Location: On-Site PCC, Pecos, Texas.

Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Federal Background Clearance.
