Hockey Director

Job Purpose

Supervises the entire scope of hockey related activities such as leagues, events, Learn-to-Play, part-time, and contract employees. General responsibilities will include scheduling, supervision of programs and employees, and performing various administrative and supervisory activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively recruit new players and teams
  • Maintain registration goals
  • Schedule and supervise part-time and contract employees
  • Act as liaison between teams and management
  • Oversee recruitment and training of coaches
  • Responsible for coordinating and recording registration for programs
  • Responsible for supervision of programs
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with guests
  • Respond to all emails and phone calls in a timely manner
  • Ensure guests are greeted and offer guests assistance as needed
  • Execute policies and procedures professionally and accurately
  • Communicate all information to supervisors and subordinates verbally and in writing
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment for guests and staff
  • Responsible for completing all tasks assigned on time
  • Update player and game statistics nightly
  • Assume responsibility of taking disciplinary action as necessary while on duty
  • Coordinate with Skating School Director for scheduling, LTP and LTS
  • Any other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

  • 5+ years in the hockey industry
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Retail experience a plus
  • Strong administrative, organizational and communication skills a must
  • Ability to operate Excel, Word, and PowerPoint necessary
  • Must be a strong recruiter
  • USA Hockey certified coach
  • History of working with Frontline Solutions a plus
  • Human resource management ability required
  • Must be proactive, self-motivated, and competitive

Working Conditions

Work responsibilities will be performed in a standard office environment, in a retail environment, and on the ice. Position will use standard office equipment that includes computers and software packages, fax and copy machines, telephones, and cash registers. Maintenance and cleaning equipment that includes ice resurfacers, ice maintenance equipment, skate sharpeners, vacuums, mops, and any other equipment associated with use in a recreational facility.

Physical Requirements

This position can involve sitting, standing, walking, running, stooping, lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling. Must have advanced ice-skating skills.
