Description

Initial Responsibilities:

  • Review mechanical part and assembly drawings, specifications, instructions to machine components.
  • Operate CNC Milling Machines
  • Take measurements and mark material for cutting or shaping.
  • Monitor output to ensure parts meet specifications and tolerances.
  • Clean up parts and debur as required.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean working environment.

Future Responsibilities:

  • Program toolpaths and select proper tooling using 2D and 3D CNC Software.
  • Plan the sequence of operations and machining setups for successful job completion.
  • Select appropriate machines (e.g. 3-4-5 axis Mills, CNC routers, lathes) and position or load material for a job.
  • Determine and program size of batches as well as feeds and speeds based on tooling and material properties.
 
Position Requirements
  • High School Diploma Required, Vocational school or apprenticeship preferred
  • 2-5 years of Machine Operator experience preferred, Machinist experience a plus
  • Excellent manual dexterity, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Great verbal communication skills
  • Basic understanding or experience in using and/or programming manual, semi-automated or automated machines (Lathes, 3-4-5 axis Vertical HAAS Milling Machines)
  • Ability to use precision tools (e.g. calipers, micrometers) to take accurate measurements
  • Ability to read blueprints, dimensions, geometric tolerances, and manuals
  • Experience in or ability and willingness to learn 2D and 3D CNC Programming software (e.g. GibbsCAM or MasterCAM)
  • Knowledge of metal properties (e.g. aluminum, steel) and other material
  • Good mathematical skills and analytical abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Computer experience using Windows File Explorer and Microsoft Office Products
  • Physical stamina and strength to lift heavy items
