Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. We provide academically rigorous, vibrant learning grounded in social justice and student centered pedagogy. SHC is a San Francisco Archdiocesan High School that is cosponsored by the De La Salle Christian Brothers, District of San Francisco New Orleans and the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Province of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton.

Position Summary:

The Boys Soccer Head Coach is a seasonal part time position. Its primary function is to coach the SHC Boys Soccer Program. The role is responsible for assisting with character development and providing direction to student athletes so that they might achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork in soccer. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Support the mission and policies of SHC and the charisms of the Daughters of Charity and De La Salle Christian Brothers through active mission and Catholic formation 
  • Plan, organize, and oversee the SHC Boys Soccer program
  • Models good sportsmanship behavior and maintain appropriate conduct towards opposing team, fans, parents, officials, spectators and community
  • Demonstrates skill sets and techniques necessary for individual and team development
  • Ensures that team rules and regulations regarding conduct and eligibility of the athletes are clearly communicated and followed
  • Participates in all required coaches, student athlete and parent meetings.
  • Creates a safe environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. 
  • Maintains Strong Interpersonal Skills 
  • Works directly with school athletic trainers in reporting injuries, teaching precautions and procedures to ensure staff/student safety and help students prevent injuries. 
  • Completes Required forms and documents in a timely manner
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications & Skills: 

  • Must be a mission-driven individual with a deep passion for Catholic secondary education
  • Playing experience and/or knowledge of the sport is required.
  • Previous high school or college coaching experience is preferred.  
  • Candidates must be available during after-school hours (2:00-7:00pm) and on Saturdays. 
  • Off-season meetings and duties are also required.

Certifications and/or Licensure

Successful candidates must clear fingerprinting background checks and complete required training and certifications.

Education and/or Experience:                   

Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience. 

Computer Skills:                   

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software applications, Google/Gmail and internet usage.
