Description

Purpose: Serves as the primary point of contact with our external audit firm. Responsible for the timeliness and overall success of the annual financial statement audit process. This position reports directly to the VP / Chief Financial Officer.

Accountabilities:

Major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Conduct analysis of current processes and tools in preparation for annual financial statement audit.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancements in the financial statement audit process.
  • Flowchart the audit process and coordinate audit timing between the external audit firm and the fiscal services team.
  • Partner with Director of Fiscal Services to assign and fulfill audit deliverables.
  • Structure the audit process and monitor ongoing progress of open items.
  • Ensure timeframes are well communicated and audit schedules are completed timely.
  • Consolidate audit requests when possible and minimize workflow interruptions.
  • Prepare audit workpapers and conduct audit research as needed.
  • Prepare a variety of detailed accounting and statistical functions related to auditing.
  • Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with accounting team members, and function as primary POC with external audit firm.
  • Prepares workpapers that are organized, neat, and supported by conclusions.
  • Uses reference materials in researching auditing issues.
  • Stay informed of changing financial reporting standards.
  • Enhance communication with external auditors, instill confidence in those you meet by manner, spoken and written words.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in relevant field with financial statement audit experience.
  • Experience leading external audit(s) preferred.
  • Non-for-profit and healthcare experience preferred.
  • Sage 100 experience a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all staff and external auditors.
  • Experience in computerized accounting/office equipment.
  • Experience with MS Office applications, highly skilled in Excel.
  • Ability to maintain confidential nature of work.
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences.
  • Must be able to safely perform the essential job functions, with or without reasonable accommodations.
