Description

The Senior Hunger Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Senior Brown Bag program, a monthly direct distribution program. This includes developing a menu of TEFAP food and fresh produce and coordinating monthly distributions to serve seniors throughout DC, MD, and VA. The main goal of this program is to provide supplemental groceries for seniors in need through the distribution of nutritious food to approved community sites. Responsibilities include but are not limited to organizing trainings; developing monthly menus; coordinating with the Volunteer Team for bag packings; scheduling deliveries and pickups; providing customer service, creating a monthly newsletter as well as conducting site reviews and ensuring all program records are up to date and maintained properly. The Senior Hunger Program Coordinator will also be responsible for supporting the transition of all sites to a new intake process and information system.

 
Position Requirements

Essential Functions

Program Administration (80%)

  • Develop diverse and tailored monthly menu for brown bag distribution based on region and available TEFAP inventory;
  • Complete Sales Orders for all deliveries through CAFB internal system;
  • Publish monthly Bag It Up! newsletter for distribution with bags;
  • Ensure monthly distribution calendar is accurate and communicate delivery details with Warehouse, Volunteer, and Transportation Teams;
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication to clients, partner sites and volunteers;
  • Explore and support potential pilot opportunities designed to improve program administration
  • Review program data and identify opportunities to expand the program to increase participation.
  • Work with site coordinators to identify growth at each site location.

Monitoring & Compliance (20%)

  • Monitor sites and be responsive to site coordinators to ensure program guidelines are met;
  • Maintain and update all records pertaining to the Brown Bag Program;
  • Present site leader trainings on an annual and as-needed basis;
  • Conduct annual TEFAP program recertification;
  • Perform annual site inspections of all sites based on region and on an as-needed basis to ensure program guidelines are met;
  • Ensure TEFAP audit compliance with internal teams;
  • Maintain detailed records and give and follow clear directions;
  • Develop and support data transition at all sites over 1-2 year period

Miscellaneous

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills; comfort enforcing policies and navigating difficult conversations.
  • Exhibit aptitude in working with community and faith-based organizations.
  • Demonstrate a high comfort level working with diverse older adult populations.
  • Develop and maintain collegial relationships with all departments and employees of the CAFB.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel).
  • Extremely organized and meticulous with details.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Passion for food access within senior population.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

  • Direct Distributions Manager

Schedule:

  • Hybrid schedule available
  • Regular work hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm
