Summary

The Accounting Manager will manage the daily operations of the accounting department, including supervision of accounts payable, general ledger, and sales & use tax activities. Managing a superior accounting team of 3 direct reports, this leader will support, train, and equip team members for continued success and advancement.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the month-end close process, including review of financial statements prior to VP of Finance’s review. Collect and analyze financial data for both financial and operational projects.
  • Maintain and review multiple schedules to support the financial statements.
  • Review of weekly disbursements cycles.
  • Interact with team members and management of other departments on a daily basis to assure efficient and timely transfer of shared data, including intercompany transfers and reconciliations.
  • Support VP of Finance and fellow team members with financial and state tax audits. Assist with preparation of supporting documentation for all audits. Take lead on daily interactions with auditors during field work. Maintain supporting schedules for both federal and state tax return preparation.
  • Assist VP of Finance and Sales Tax coordinator with unclaimed property management.
  • Maintain schedules to support federal and state income tax preparations.
  • Support VP of Finance and Sr. Manager - Reporting and Analysis with financial results and forecasts.
  • Maintain and monitor internal controls, take corrective actions, and assure integrity of financials and supporting processes, systems and data.
  • Work with VP of Finance to develop accurate and timely information to support executive management.
  • Take lead on a wide variety of special projects and ad hoc reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, and maintain a CPA license in good standing with the state of Texas.
  • Understanding of current GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to organize data for presentation purposes.
  • Strong computer skills, Excel skills, and the ability to use Outlook and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; effective communicator.
  • Professional, kind and humble management style.
  • The ideal candidate will thrive in a busy, fast paced environment, working with an excellent team who is willing to jump in and do what needs to be done to be successful.
  • Willingness to work with a month-end and year-end close cycle that may, at times, include weekends.

 

The following qualifications are preferred and will make the most successful candidates stand out:

  • Understanding of cost accounting, avg. costing methods, and inventory management
  • Direct Sales Industry experience
