Together we build our future! Cogent is currently seeking an enthusiastic and dependable Field Service Technician to join our team in Kansas City, Missouri. This position will be responsible for installing and dismantling pumping systems and pipelines on customer job sites independently or as part of a crew. The Field Service role will maintain a clean and orderly worksite environment to enable safe and efficient movement of workers and motorized equipment throughout the site. Essential Responsibilities: Works alone or with others to install, service, and maintain various types of rotating equipment typically found in the water and wastewater industry frequently working under tight deadlines to prevent customers from going into environmental violation. Utilizes specific repair reports to accurately document all aspects of repair estimates, adjustments, repairs, and failure diagnosis, including part numbers, part descriptions, estimated labor hours, actual labor hours, mileage, vehicle usage, and descriptions of work required to ensure customer satisfaction. Assists in planning and review of new or modified installations for mechanical and or electrical systems. Works as an “Emergency Responder” as necessary. May work more than 8 hours on any particular day or on off-hours on short notice. Responsible for service vehicle maintenance scheduling and documentation.   Position Field Service Technician   Position Requirements Qualified candidates will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities: High school diploma or GED required; degree from a Technical or Vocational school in Mechanics or Electronics preferred. Minimum three years experience in the installation and repair of piping systems preferred. Minimum three years experience in installation, maintenance, and repair of submersible pumps or other rotating equipment generally found in water and wastewater facilities preferred. Excellent proven electro-mechanical repair and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work as an “Emergency Responder” subject to overtime and occasional overnight travel on short notice required. Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required; Class C non CDL or ability to possess Class C non CDL within 3 months of hire is required. High-level communication and organization skills, as well as a positive attitude towards customer service required. Basic computer knowledge required (Word, Gmail). Ability to manually lift and maneuver heavy objects, parts, equipment, and materials required. Ability to work outdoors under extreme weather conditions required. Ability to work under little supervision. Must be adaptable to perform other duties as needed.
