Description

BASIC FUNCTION:

The primary responsibility of the Door-to-Door Sales Professional is to market and sell internet and home phone services to residents of designated communities and small businesses within the Roanoke Connect service footprint.

Direct Sales Representative will approach their prospective customers on an unscheduled basis, and briefly describe our product offering and how it will fit their needs. The goal of each visit is to receive an invitation to make a complete pitch and demonstrate Roanoke Connects services product offerings. This position is base plus commission ($51,000 - $70,000 plus company vehicle will be provided).

This position offers commission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Travel to different neighborhoods and suburbs canvassing door-to-door with the goal of selling broadband products and services.
  2. Presents product features and benefits based on customer needs
  3. Uses impactful closing techniques and be able to explain what makes are product better than our competitors to get customer to make a purchasing decision
  4. Distributes promotional materials & pamphlets.
  5. Writes up sales orders for products, services and provide guidance on product installation
  6. Develops prospect list or lead list, based on serviceable address list.
  7. Circle back and check on customers who are in the position to buy the product.
  8. Work an assigned territory, often up to 30-50 houses or locations per day.
  9. Win back or upgrade current or former customers.
  10. Perform other duties as requested by manager.
 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High School Diploma or equivalent work experience plus 2+ years sales or relevant work experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of cable or telecommunications services, with an emphasis on data networking fundamentals and the ability to educate consumers on related products and services as needed.
  2. Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  3. Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services. This includes marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques, and sales control systems.
  4. Talking to others to convey information effectively.
  5. Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  6. Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  7. Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  8. Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
  9. Ability to travel (including during inclement weather) to and from assigned territories and company facilities using a reliable personal vehicle.
  10. Ability to listen, formulate needs-based sales strategies, and articulate pitches to sell products and services.
