Description

CORE believes the United States is a country founded by immigrants and refugees and the United States has a moral and legal obligation to provide protection to those seeking asylum. Additionally, welcoming and supporting asylum seekers can have several positive impacts on the country. It can support the integration of diverse communities, bring new talents and skills to the workforce, and promote a more inclusive and compassionate society. It also fulfills our international legal obligations as a signatory of the 1951 Refugee Convention. Denying asylum to those in need goes against our country's principles of human rights and can cause harm to individuals and families.

With various humanitarian and other crisis globally, particularly south of the US border, there are expectations that those seeking asylum will continue to arrive at the US-Mexico border and will need assistance and support.

CORE has worked on the US-Mexico border sporadically from 2016 in Tijunaa, to 2022 in Del Rio, and in 2023 in Juarez/El Paso. These responses to acute needs have provided some operational insights, and CORE is now building emergency response teams to provide health and medical assessment and distribution of essential items to asylum seekers upon initial entry into the United States.

CORE is looking for team members with medical training who can deploy to the US-Mexico border, primarily in California to participate in medical assessment and distribution of essential items.
