Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to perform general housekeeping/disinfecting duties and supervision of the housekeeping staff. The Facility Team’s focus is on Safety, Sanitation and Security at Yellowhawk. All duties and responsibilities will be performed in accordance with the Yellowhawk Mission and Vision statements.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
  2. Identify the developmental needs of staff and coach, mentor, or otherwise help staff to improve their knowledge or skills and ensure that training is obtained.
  3. Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in janitorial services.
  4. Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  5. Assigns various janitorial work to employees, following material and work requirements.
  6. Inspects work performed to ensure conformance to specifications and established standards.
  7. Trains subordinate supervisors in job skills, proper cleaning methods, and use of equipment, safety practices and prevention, and in work regulations.
  8. Issues janitorial supplies and equipment to workers to ensure quality and timely delivery of services.
  9. Daily cleaning and sanitizing of the offices, restrooms, break areas and exam areas. Including the lab area.
  10. Makes rounds to check for crew coverage of designated work areas, assigns needed coverage, gives special cleaning instructions and/or assignments, and ascertains compliance with directives.
  11. Implement specific bacteriological prevention procedures in specialized areas (e.g., mopping techniques, special disposal of contaminated linens, waste materials, and other items, use of gowns, masks and gloves in cleaning, use of appropriate chemicals for different floor and wall coverings and their correct dilutions, and cleaning of conductive floors).
  12. Responsible for daily vacuuming of all carpeted areas, sweeping of all tile/vinyl floors, wet mopping of all tile/vinyl floors with germicide, using heavy cleaning machines such as industrial vacuum cleaners, floor polishers, carpet shampoo equipment, etc.
  13. Responsible for minor repairs such as changing light bulbs. Reports any maintenance work orders to the Maintenance Supervisor for immediate attention.
  14. Cleans windows, glass partitions, mirrors, and other glass surfaces of building interior or exterior using appropriate cleaning materials.
  15. Responsible for sanitizing and disinfecting: patient area walls, room doors and door handles, restroom walls and dividers, counters and exam tables, water fountains, and clinical/waiting room furniture with appropriate cleaning agents. Also must clean/sanitize all areas which are hidden and may induce germ growth.
  16. Responsible to thoroughly clean and disinfect the specimen restroom and public restrooms daily. Replenishes towels, tissues, soaps, and other restroom supplies as needed.
  17. Assist in strip, clean, seal and wax tile/vinyl floors on a quarterly basis. Soil extracts or shampoo carpet areas to remove stains to maintain an acceptable appearance of carpet, quarterly or when needed. Soil extract or shampoo furniture to remove stains and maintain appearance of upholstered furniture quarterly or as needed.
  18. Maintains the security of the building at all times; checks and secures doors and windows after business hours.
  19. Responsible for preparing a weekly janitorial supply list and submitting it to the Facility Manager. The supply orders shall ensure that shortages do not occur.
  20. Manage inventories of cleaning equipment and supplies such as mops, vacuum cleaners, cleaning solutions and floor buffers to make sure their janitors can perform their jobs effectively.
  21. Maintains records, prepares reports, and composes correspondence relative to the work.
  22. Cleans offices as scheduled. Empty all trash receptacles daily from the clinical area, waiting area, and offices. Remove recycle materials and deposits in appropriate bins.
  23. Set up and tear down conference room tables and chairs.
  24. Must maintain strictest confidentiality.
  25. Other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Mininum Requirements:

  1. Must have a High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  2. Must have experience in custodial setting.
  3. Must be a highly motivated self-starter that possesses the ability to work effectively with the Facility team and perform daily tasks with minimal supervision.
  4. Must be current on required immunizations within seven days of beginning employment.
  5. Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain insurance requirements to operate General Services Administration vehicles.
  6. Must submit to and pass a reference and criminal background check.
  7. Must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
  8. Must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Demonstrated work experience in cleaning medical facilities (i.e., janitorial, maintenance, housekeeping) preferred.
  2. Experience as a supervisor successfully managing mulitple staff members.
