EHR Support Specialist 

Description

The EHR Specialist will provide a working relationship and communication link between the EMR department and all departments. The EHR Support Specialist will provide expertise in developing, supporting, and maintaining all aspects of the Electronic Health Record and Practice Management System. They will participate in training the staff, evaluation of training, and act as a support role for all providers and staff both clinical and clerical.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Train staff in the use of the EHR-practice management and clinical systems and provide support as needed.
  2. Review processes to improve efficiency using the EHR and associated systems. Must maintain a global perspective and foresee the impact of new processes upstream and downstream of the point of change.
  3. Serve as a liaison between the EHR department and the clinic on issues regarding provider schedules, check-in and check-out workflows, provider and clinical staff documentation and other operations as required.
  4. Keep the EHR department and other EMR team members aware of system or support issues.
  5. Assist in the development of written policies and procedures.
  6. Other duties as may be assigned by the Clinical Applications Manager and or EMR Steering Committee.
 
Position Requirements

An Associates degree in the medical field is preferred and/or three to five years’ experience in a medical environment. The EHR Support Specialist should have excellent computer skills and familiarity with EHR Systems. The EHR Support Specialist should have a working knowledge of provider scheduling check-in, check-out processes, and clinical documentation. The EHR Support Specialist should have good written, verbal and presentation skills. The EHR Support Specialist should demonstrate a highly professional manner with the ability to develop and maintain a good working relationship. This individual should demonstrate leadership and possess sound critical thinking skills in resolving issues. This team player should possess the ability to work independently and reliably with minimal supervision.
