Records Clerk 

Location City of Griffin  

Performs technical and customer service duties in the maintenance of department files and records.

Major duties:

  • Answers calls and greets visitors; provides information and assistance.
  • Receives payments for citations, background checks and expungements.
  • Provides customers with incident and accident reports; receives payments.
  • Completes and balances a ledger of monies received; closes out drawers and prepares deposits.
  • Processes releases for vehicle impounds.
  • Verifies wanted person entries in the Georgic Crime Information Center (GCIC) database.
  • Enters traffic citations and arrest booking reports.
  • Maintains false alarm reports and prepares related invoices.
  • Issues golf cart permits.
  • Assists in monitoring and entering data into the GCIC database.
  • Processes all GCIC validations monthly.
  • Prepares arrestee profile sheets for Municipal Court.
  • Processes incoming mail.
  • Performs related duties.


Position Requirements
  • Knowledge of modern office principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
  • Knowledge of Georgia Crime Information Center policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of departmental and city policies and procedures.
  • Skill in the maintenance of hard copy and electronic records.
  • Skill in the provision of customer services.
  • Skill in the accurate entry and maintenance of a variety of records.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute.
  • Ability to use a computer with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain GCIC/NCIC certification.

Hourly Rate of Pay $13.50 with competitive benefits package and generous pension plan
