This role reports directly to the Director of Operations. The Histology Technician is responsible for performing slide based histological assays, including: Receives and logs specimens Assists pathologist or Clinical Laboratory Technologist with tissue grossing procedures such as: preparing the tissue grossing area with appropriate materials and instruments; maintaining and assuring specimen identification by correctly labeling cassettes and maintain workflow; cleaning workstation at the completing of grossing procedures. Ensure aseptic technique and observes health and safety protocols during clean-up processes Process, embeds, and sections tissues for slides Performs preventative maintenance and quality control procedures according to schedules Contributes to general laboratory functions and needs by observing laboratory policies and procedures, and maintaining a safe, clean, and prepared work area. Performs other duties as assigned   Position Requirements Educational Requirements: Associates degree in applied sciences; Bachelor’s preferred Required Licensure: Current and active American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification HT (Histotechnician) certification required HTL (Histotechnologist) certification, preferred Required Experience: 1+ years full-time histopathology experience Required Skills: Good oral communication. Desire to learn. Ability to read information quickly, interpret and retain it for later use. Listens and gets clarification. Able to work in a team-oriented environment. Physical Requirements: Standing or sitting for an extended period Able to lift 25 lbs.
