Job Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly reporting of the managed properties. Responsible for overseeing the efficient processing of accounting and payroll related information according to Bird Dog standards. This position is full time and will report to the Controller.


  • Associates degree in accounting or finance or equivalent education and/or experience required.
  • Experience in multi-unit real estate/hospitality accounting environment a plus, but not required.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office specifically in Excel (mid-level preferred).
  • Clear understanding of General Ledger concepts.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.


  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with general managers, corporate employees, and other team members.
  • Oversee accounting for a portfolio of managed hotels and restaurants; coordinate closely with general managers to ensure revenues and expenses are recorded and allocated accurately and submitted timely.
  • Ensure property financials are completed on or before the assigned due date.
  • Perform monthly cash, credit card, and inter-company account reconciliations.
  • Calculate and file monthly/quarterly sales, use, and lodging tax returns.
  • Research and provide documentation to management for internal and external auditors.
  • Perform special projects or other tasks as assigned.
  • Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Process biweekly payroll for assigned properties.
