Description

CONTEXT FOR MINISTRY: Faith Education, Innovation, and Formation Ministries (Faith INFO) serves as the touch point for local congregations and specialized ministries in the United Church of Christ. Faith INFO resources local congregations, specialized ministries of the church, and emerging communities of faith with congregational resources for worship and witness within the church and world.

 

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Program Assistant to Faith INFO serves to support the team leader and program staff towards efficient and effective work in its core purpose. Focus is given to administrative support of the Faith INFO Team Leader. Additionally, as Program Assistant under the direction of the Faith INFO Team Leader, provides additional support to webinar programming, granting and scholarships, worship and theology programing, congregational and community engagement and youth and children programing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Participates in the development, implementation, and support of the overall program and mission of the Faith INFO Ministry Team.
  • Serves as Program Assistant to the Team Leader.
  • Serves as Program Assistant to the Faith INFO program staff.
  • Process necessary financial and administrative paperwork related to Faith INFO ministries.
  • Responds to telephone, email, and mailed requests for information about Faith INFO programs.
  • Schedules meetings using platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Doodle Poll, Outlook calendars, and Zoom.
  • Hosts Zoom meetings and takes clear meeting minutes upon request.
  • Data entry and communication regarding granting and scholarships
  • Uploads worship resources to the Worship Ways website and update FaithINFO web pages as needed.
  • Maintains appropriate confidentiality with regard to all communications.
  • Promotes the Team’s positive public image by responding in writing and orally on a timely basis to inquiries for information.
  • Contributes to the effectiveness of Justice and Local Church Ministries and the Faith INFO ministry team by fostering a spirit of cooperation and accomplishing assigned tasks.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and/or abilities:

 

  • High school graduate or equivalent, plus a minimum of 3-5 years secretarial experience; knowledge of office procedures.
  • Understanding of the polity and structures of the United Church of Christ.
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in a diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and religious setting with a commitment to diversity in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially as well as independently.
  • Demonstrated written and oral English language skills, including the ability to conceptualize and develop print resources; public speaking skills and knowledge of a second language when applicable.
  • High degree of computer competence and ease with adapting to new technology.
  • Must be a self-starter, able to prioritize work and to perform with minimum supervision.
  • Strong understanding of the need for confidentiality and discretion in human relations skills.

This position is Cleveland-based and may work a hybrid schedule with at least one day/week in the office.
