Description

This is a 3-year term position funded through May 2026.  This position is part-time, 25 hours/week with benefits.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Faith Education, Innovation and Formation team has been the recipient of a sizeable Lilly grant that allows the United Church of Christ to take an in-depth look at children’s ministry and design a new model that is alignment with the grant’s goals and the denomination’s priorities and theological values. Over the course of three years we will research, create, and test the initial design for Love of Children that was submitted as part of the grant proposal, while taking into account best practices and what we learn along the way.

 

The Assistant Project Administrator will help to create this new model of ministry that allow congregations to work towards a new designation of ministry (akin to Just Peace, ONA, etc.) for children while equipping children’s leaders to nurture their youngest members. This position will rely on strong administration and organization skills to accomplish key tasks along the way. In addition, the assistant program director will help to plan, research, and implement the strategies and programs.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinating with grant partners for dates, locations, trainings, etc.
  • Attend site visits with cohorts
  • Creation of timelines essential to all responsibilities and reports
  • Update website and social media platforms
  • Facilitate all OPTIC ticketing and internal software for data and project management
  • Creation of print materials, graphics, etc. related to the program
  • Prepare payments for all contracts and presenters using company’s software
  • Administrative tasks including, but not limited to: preparation of contracts, submitting check requests, website updates, preparing and completing denominational mailings
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

  • A college degree or a combination of equivalent experience
  • Proficient computer skills with a focus on programs and systems including Microsoft Office, Sharepoint, Canva, Zoom and Wrike
  • Ability to edit and update websites
  • Ease of learning and engaging various social media platforms
  • Attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious settings with commitment to pluralism in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
  • Ability to travel to Cleveland as required for staff meetings, and in 2025 and 2026 there are potentially 4 trips which would include either Synod or an NYE like event.

This position may be deployed outside of Cleveland.
