Job Summary

The CNC Set-Up is responsible for CNC machining programs and related documentation for mills and lathes to support the flow of production in the machine shop on 2nd shift. Other responsibilities include determining and specifying component set-ups and creating custom fixtures as needed. This CNC Set-Up must also be able to develop manufacturing processes and perform problem solving tasks within a team environment

Primary responsibilities include:

Create and maintain CNC programs for mills and lathes, using 2D prints and solid models

Develop and specify component set-ups and creating custom fixtures as needed

Develop new manufacturing processes, and review existing processes for machining improvements and cost reductions

Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering to facilitate completion of assignments

Provide support to the machine shop and Manufacturing and Engineering departments

Provide training, counseling and guide technical work for machinists

Specify tooling, test new tooling and work with tooling suppliers

Preferred Experience:

3-5 years in CNC programming, machining, tool/fixture design and process development

Minimum of two years of experience of operating Okuma Twin Star LT200 Machining Center, Nomura Swiss Turning Center and/or Brother Mill Machining Center.

Proficient in machining practices, cutting tools, work-holding, and part set-up
Ability to translate all engineering drawing requirements as required for the development of CNC programs

Ability to work with little or no supervision

Ability to complete tasks and assignments within the allotted times.

PLEX knowledge

Education / Skills

High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.

Manufacturing experience a plus

Excel & Word experience required

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be a licensed forklift operator.
