The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Reporting to the Store Manager, the Sales Associate will provide first-class retail services to our visitors. You will contribute to the Museum’s success by delivering results, having unparalleled customer interactions, and developing enthusiasm for and knowledge of exhibitions and items in the collection.

This position is represented by a union.

You Will:

  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and eagerness to learn and uphold the highest standards when it comes to service, visual presentation, and the stockroom.
  • Deliver the best possible service and attention to all consumers.
  • Help maintain a safe retail environment and create a polished aesthetic for the retail area.
  • Develop positive relationships with customers and teammates.
  • Increase customer loyalty by establishing relationships with customers.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive product and exhibition knowledge.
  • Straighten, clean and help maintain stockroom as needed.
  • Complete all required ongoing training, including security, audience engagement and collection, visitor orientation, and product information.
  • Model reliability and flexibility by being able to work varied hours and days to meet the needs of the business.
 
Position Requirements

You Have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent certificate of completion.
  • 1+ years of customer service or retail experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in communicating effectively and clearly.
  • Experience working effectively with others in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience providing excellent customer service.
  • A commitment to diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion.
  • Customer-centric approach with knowledge of filmmaking and a fan of movies.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, holidays, and weekends: (Prior to opening standard office hours will be Monday through Friday. After the opening the schedule will include Saturdays and Sundays).

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Be mobile on the sales floor for extended periods of time (including standing, walking, bending, carrying, and reaching).

 

Other Requirements:

  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is required, including any booster vaccinations as applicable.

The expected base hourly rate for this role is $18.00. The actual base pay offered will be determined by factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law.
