Job Title: Social Media Coordinator- Full Time

Department/Group: Office of Mission Advancement

Reports To: Congregational Director of Mission Advancement

Mission: Our mission is to stand in the presence of the living God and, with Mary, make known to the world the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The Office of Mission Advancement exists to support and spread the mission of the Carmelite Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Los Angeles.

Supporting the mission

  • Congregational Fundraising
  • Service to our Apostolates of Retreat, Healthcare, Education
  • Develop resources and strategies to advance and communicate our mission according to the needs of our time

Spreading the mission

  • Spreading the Love of the Sacred Heart
  • Sharing our Carmelite Spirituality
  • Relationship Building

 

Purpose of Your Job Position:

  • Create, manage, and maintain dynamic content for all social media vehicles/websites for Carmelite Sisters and its Apostolic Centers.
  • Engage online audiences to build and deepen relationships while representing the Carmelite Sisters
  • Assist with all other forms of communications media.
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-year related experience
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, especially Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Proficiency in social media best practices and in tailor-fitting content to other platforms is a plus
  • Proven graphic design and communication production experience
  • Fluently read, speak, write, and understand English; strong writing and grammar skills is a plus
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Catholic beliefs and ability to convey Catholic faith
  • Proficiency in project management and content strategy

Duties and Responsibilities

           Social Media

  • Oversee all social media outreach and integrate content with other communication mediums used in Mission Advancement
  • Create and implement social media strategy and content calendar, in line with and communicating the organization’s mission
  • Work closely with the team to develop social media campaigns that help to achieve goals
  • Create and manage dynamic and thoughtful content in line with the organization’s mission via a range of media types (this process includes obtaining graphics, video editing, blog planning and writing, caption and content writing, and proofreading)
  • Respond appropriately to questions and comments on our social media page in a timely. and accurate manner, with Carmelite language; includes outreach to appropriate parties when necessary
  • Maintain a united and attractive aesthetic across multiple product lines with complementary images, videos, and text, actively reinforcing Carmelite Sisters’ branding
  • Curate content on this platform as well as other related Catholic platforms to repost if relevant, tagged, or mentioned; (e.g., EWTN, Vatican, Pope Francis, LA Catholics, LA Vocations, OneLifeLA, Bishop Barron, Given Institute, young adult groups, etc.)
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on metrics and analytics to measure effectiveness of social media outreach
  • Apply analytic and metric insights to content planning
  • Stay on pulse with Catholic Church news, trends, and social media niche
  • Research and stay up-to-date with social media trends and strategies to boost algorithms, presence, and reach
  • Apply techniques to boost event/mission awareness and engagement (promotions, competitions/giveaways)

        Other Communications Media

  • Create monthly e-newsletters
  • Assist with videography/photography (as needed)
  • Develop effective and creative content (graphics, video, writing)
  • Assist with content for Spirit of Carmel and other larger collaborative print projects as requested
  • Research opportunities to grow congregation’s visibility
  • Assist with any other projects as requested by the Director of Mission Advancement
