Bolton & Menk is in search of a Cultural Resources Specialist to join our Environmental Planning team in the Twin Cities.  As a Star Tribune Top 200 Workplace in Minnesota, this is a fantastic opportunity to work with a great team of professionals and help make a difference in our local communities! 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Assist with managing projects based upon approved scope of work, ensuring project timelines are met and work is completed on budget
  • Coordinate with internal staff, such as Project Mangers, as well as applicable agency contacts as directed by the Principal Investigator
  • Produce high quality products (namely reports) for clients and assist with agency interactions
  • Assist with project scoping
  • Oversee the survey/field review aspect of projects and make appropriate changes to methodology while in the field

What We are Looking For:

  • M.A./M.S. or PhD degree in archaeology, anthropology, or a closely related field
  • Ability to work outdoors in a variety of conditions and physical capability of navigating rugged terrain
  • At least one year experience working in Cultural Resources Management
  • Ability to carry research to completion
  • Experience leading Phase I archaeological reconnaissance surveys
  • Field experience in Phase II archaeological evaluations
  • Previous experience reporting on archaeological investigations and evaluations within the context of Cultural Resources Management (lead authorship preferred)
  • Ability to analyze, record, and curate artifacts to MnHS standards
  • Prior archaeological experience specializing in Minnesota/Midwest
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and your own transportation. You will be reimbursed for business-related travel.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Ability to produce high-quality project mapping with ArcGIS
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (word, excel)
  • Prior experience working directly and independently with Project Managers and clients
  • Ability to coordinate with government agencies (SHPO, OSA, Corps, etc.) with little senior personnel oversight
  • Previous experience coordinating cultural resources needs within the setting of a civil engineering firm
