Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory (SHC) is a Lasallian Vincentian Catholic, co-educational college preparatory secondary school located in the heart of San Francisco, California. POSITION TITLE: Finance Analyst
SUPERVISED BY: Director of Finance
FLSA STATUS: Exempt, Full-Time, Regular- 12 month
EFFECTIVE DATE: April 2023
COMPENSATION RANGE: $64,480- $70,000 per year

Position Summary:

The Finance Analyst is responsible for general accounting and financial analytics for the school in accordance with the directives of the Director of Finance in the Finance and Business Operations department. This is an on campus in person position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close. Perform monthly closing tasks according to targeted deadlines.

  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting package for SHC management, including calculating key metrics

  • Prepare and analyze monthly budget to actual reports

  • Reconcile all investment accounts; record investment journal entries

  • Reconcile the Development cash account monthly; determine restricted amounts to be released on a quarterly basis

  • Prepare fixed asset reconciliation on a quarterly basis; prepare journal entries to capitalize construction in progress

  • Reconcile weekly check logs to the bank statement to ensure all checks were deposited into bank account

  • Manage data collection and analysis for special projects, including creation of related journal entries

  • Prepare and collect supporting documentation for the annual audit

  • Assist the Director of Finance with budgets and financial analysis

  • Cross-train for other Finance roles and responsibilities

  • Review Finance team server monthly to ensure appropriate files and support are saved; back-up Finance team server files monthly

  • Support ad hoc departmental needs

  • Proficiency in using accounting systems, financial databases and managing lists and data in Microsoft Excel. Advanced Excel skills.

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends

Certifications and/or Licensure
None

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field with a minimum of 2-5 years experience in Accounting or Finance

  • Non-profit experience a plus

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously and adjust workload to meet changing circumstances

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft software applications, Google/Gmail and accounting systems. Database management experience is preferred. Advanced Excel skills.
