Position Summary: The Managing Therapist is responsible for the day-to-day operations and activities of the Clinical Services at the main administrative building on Argonne and the HRM emergency shelter. This includes supervision of staff and interns, serving as the liaison to other HRM departments, and maintaining the integrity of the program in the community. The Managing Therapist is also responsible for providing direct therapeutic services to victims of intimate partner violence and their families on an ongoing basis as well as in crises. The Managing Therapist facilitates and supports a team approach among staff to address the trauma, mental health and other clinical issues clients may present.

In collaboration with the (Associate) Director of Clinical Services, the Managing Therapist ensures that the goals, objectives, and work effort of the staff at these sites are consistent with the mission of the House of Ruth Maryland and advances the agency and program’s strategic goals and objectives.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements site-specific goals and objectives, staffing plans and staff development strategies.
  • Provides reflective supervision to clinicians working with adults, children and families.
  • Provides administrative supervision to clinicians regarding performance expectations, performance evaluation, site/program priorities, quality assurance, and performance improvement interventions.
  • Makes recommendations for and participates in hiring and onboarding of new staff.
  • Provides comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments for victims of intimate partner violence.
  • Provides individual trauma-based therapy and conducts support groups for victims of IPV.
  • Participates in Clinical Services staff meetings.
  • Participates in case review and peer clinical supervision with other Clinical Managers.
  • Takes responsibility for assuring service is client-focused and culturally sensitive; strengths based, and built on a foundation of sound clinical theory and trauma-informed best practices.
  • Identifies training opportunities as well as develops and implements annual staff training and development plans.
  • Ensures Clinical staff under supervision meet professional standards of practice and State licensing requirements.
  • Uses agency information system and other methods to monitor and report on program quality and key performance indicators.
  • Ensures the collection and integrity of client/service data.
  • Identifies opportunities to use interns and volunteers, and trains, supervises, and provides support.
  • Ensures compliance with terms of contracts and grants, including grant project management and reporting.
  • Represents HRM on local coalitions, committees and boards, and provides professional presentations for educational and marketing purposes.
  • Establishes service linkage relationships to increase the number of clients served, and to provide comprehensive services to clients.
  • Makes recommendations to (Associate) Director of Clinical Services for service adaptation based on best practices established by research in the field.
  • Holds team meetings regularly to provide feedback and direction.
  • Meets weekly with direct reports for a one-on-one supervision.
  • Attends meetings and collaborates with other collocated programs.
