Job Summary

Under the direction of the Facilities Manager, this position will assist with supervising over facilities team to maintain the three facilities to the highest standards. The ideal candidate must have a general understanding of systems equipment (HVAC, plumbing, generators, electric, fire systems, machinery handling equipment). Assist with managing and coordinating with external service providers and working with various maintenance systems.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, scheduling, organizing, coordinating, inspecting, and evaluate the work of facilities team in the upkeep of the three AMPAS facilities
  • Provide training to staff in the proper and efficient performance for cleaning and maintenance duties.
  • Inspect and evaluate the condition of the buildings, equipment, machinery, and make recommendations for improvement to manager.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas.
  • Ensure that all work is performed in a safe manner in conformance with safety programs.
  • Assign appropriate personnel to perform scheduled maintenance and safety inspections on equipment.
  • Assist with ordering and maintaining sufficient parts for equipment.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work area. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and a positive and respectful attitude with peers, subordinates, supervisors, administrators, and visitors.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Have 3 years of work experience in general building maintenance, or demonstrated ability to use hand and power tools (such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, precision measures, electronic/electronic testing devices), and knowledge of and ability to properly use specialized equipment, including that used in one or more of the trades of electrical, plumbing, painting, or general carpentry
  • 3 years of maintenance experience as a lead/supervisor or three years of progressive leadership responsibility in a facility related environment, preferred
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) experience is a plus.
  • Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required equivalent qualifications
  • Have building and safety codes; materials, tools, equipment, and methods used in the repair and maintenance of buildings and related facilities
  • Have principles and practices of supervision and training
  • Knowledge of Cal OSHA and OSHA occupational safety regulations

  • Comprehend technical topics and specialized information
  • Ability to use various programs and software to manage, schedule, and document work.
  • Demonstrate safe work practice
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is highly preferred.
  • We are currently hiring day and swing shifts; precise work times are TBD. Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours including weekends, late nights, and holidays.
  • Must be willing to work overtime, weekends, and a flexible schedule, when required e.g. during emergencies.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to repeatedly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds and kneel/bend/stoop/squat for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in fluctuating temperatures. Ability to work under adverse situations and conditions, e.g., dirty, noisy, etc.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and heights

The expected starting salary range for this role is $30.00 The actual base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, education, and other factors permitted by law. Decisions will be made on a case-by-case basis.
