Description

Chiaravalle Montessori is looking for energetic, enthusiastic and motivated educators to make a commitment to our school, kids and community.  We are seeking a part-time Assistant Teacher for our Elementary After School program (Grades 1st - 6th) to start as soon as possible.  The position hours are from 2:30pm - 6pm.

THE POSITION

Under the direction of the Student Life Coordinator, the Elementary After School Assistant Teacher prepares and maintains an orderly learning environment well-equipped with age appropriate materials and supplies. You will manage, organize, and rotate the inventory of materials to meet the needs and interests of the students.  This position supervises children during all aspects of the after school program, including but not limited to, organized and independent activities, outside or inside large muscle activities and transitions.

Position Requirements

Education & Experience 

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree (preferably in education) and a minimum of 2 years teaching in a support role. (Bachelor's degree is REQUIRED)  Montessori experience or certification is a plus. Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communication, organization skills are preferred. This person must be adaptable to different situations, communication and social styles. Patience, the ability to stay calm and maintain respectful and peaceful communication with children and adults is also essential.

Other Requirements

Physical requirements include full ability to see, walk, hear and talk as well as lift and carry up to 15 lbs. regularly, up to 40-50 lbs in the case of lifting or carrying a child in an emergency situation, and pushing/pulling/reaching to maintain files, supplies and equipment.
