Looking for a full-time Child Psychiatrist


Job Summary

You will provide the clinical leadership of medical services by diagnosing and treating patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, clinical training, and supervision of psychiatric services.


What You Will Do:

  • Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain a therapeutic alliance with children, and their families
  • Demonstrate the ability to perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations of assigned patients, monitor the patient's psychiatric status, and exhibit knowledge of age-specific criteria, ensuring that the full range of medical/behavioral considerations is taken into account in determining the diagnosis and appropriate treatment.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic tests as indicated by patient presentation and medications prescribed. Determine the need for medication and other specific treatments and develops treatments
  • Demonstrate the ability to initiate efforts to relieve family distress and improve family functioning
  • Demonstrate the ability to facilitate access to services and coordinate resources among mental health, general medical, and other service systems
  • Demonstrate the ability to increase understanding of an adaptation to the psychosocial effects of identified disorders
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in the formulation of psychosocial treatment plans with relevant goals, behaviorally-measurable objectives that serve as indexes for evaluating treatment progress, and realistic time frames for achievement
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in written documentation of assessments, treatment plans, progress reports, and discharge summaries in the clinical record, with all entries authenticated and time/dated

For Child/Adolescent Population:

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of child/adolescent stages of growth and development.
  • Assess history, assessment, and family information, in the context of adult development in formulating diagnoses and treatment plans.
  • Engage family members in decision-making related to child/adolescent treatment planning.
  • Engage family members in education and treatment according to treatment plans.
  • Knowledge of psychotropic medications prescribed for child/adolescent populations and their use in treatment.


What We Need to See:

  • Medical degree from an accredited college or university
  • Board Certification in psychiatry as defined by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology
  • Documented knowledge of at least two (2) years of work experience with adults with mental illness
  • A valid New Jersey medical license and have completed a residency in psychiatry
  • Valid Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Certificate
  • Valid State Controlled Substance Administration (CDS) Certificate
  • Valid driver's license required and must be insurable by agency's automobile insurance
  • Must be willing to sign a collaborative agreement.
