Candidate Profile

Hilldrup has an immediate need for a solution-oriented Local Dispatcher, to dispatch all service teams for the Forestville, MD office, working closely with the Operations team to assign jobs and equipment during the day. The incumbent will communicate with service teams, contractors, and contract labor to resolve challenges and confirm scheduling, and is the main point of contact for customer service on daily issues.

Significant Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  1. Responsible for the morning dispatch of all service teams (Employees, Contractors, Contract Labor). Reviews special instructions in detail with service providers.
  2. Responsible for the recruiting, background checks, and drug tests for all contract labor
  3. Monitoring crews with multiple jobs, maintain multiple job reports, communicating with service providers to ensure timely arrival to all dispatched jobs.
  4. Maintains the Situation Log (Movers Suite), ensuring situations are solved before leaving the office.
  5. Monitors truck rentals to Hilldrup Owner Operators, including checking in/out all rental trucks and completes branch ticket for any charges.
  6. Reviews all quality reports/scores with all service providers and reviewing positive and negative results.
  7. Performs random safety inspections on the lot and ensures all service providers are following the HOS regulations.
  8. Efficiently monitors all employee crew departure and arrival times and reviews the weekly hours report to minimize overtime.
  9. Manages, plans, and dispatches all auto activity for the Forestville location.
  10. Serves as Agency Safety Representative (ASR) for the Forestville location.
  11. All other duties assigned.
 
Position Requirements
  • 2 to 4-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the moving and storage industry.
  • Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Valid Maryland operator’s license; Certified Weighmaster.
  • Strong planning skills.
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills;
  • Thorough knowledge of equipment capabilities.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and demonstrates willingness to take initiative.
  • Practical knowledge of Prince George's County, MD and  Washington DC Metropolitan area.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Adept regarding the use of technology.
