Lead groundwater flow, contaminant transport, and water balance modeling support for water resources and environmental site remediation applications. Work closely with other GSI senior hydrogeology staff. Plan and execute development of conceptual and numerical groundwater flow and transport models for a variety of projects. Perform technical report writing and presentations to clients, regulators, and other stakeholders. Work independently and with multi-disciplined teams to meet project objectives. Direct and support junior groundwater modeling staff for both technical skillset and overall career development. Participate in the development of business opportunities with new and existing clients. Desired Skills and Experience: Master's Degree in hydrogeology or a hydrology related field including formal training in quantitative hydrogeology and numerical modeling is required. 3-8 years' experience in application of quantitative techniques, including groundwater flow and chemical transport modeling, and hydrologic data organization and analysis. Experience leading technical tasks on groundwater modeling projects that may include, but are not limited to legacy mine remediation and mine permitting, regional water resources evaluations, and site contaminant fate and transport studies. Strong quantitative and computer skills, including a familiarity with hydrogeologic analysis and related software such as the various current versions of MODFLOW, MODFLOW-based pre-/post-processing software (i.e., Groundwater Vistas) is required. Experience with MT3DMS/MT3D-USGS/MODFLOW-USG Transport are required. Experience with aquifer test analysis software (e.g., AQTESOLV, AquiferWin32) is required. Experience with geographic information systems (GIS), specifically ArcGIS is required. Experience interacting with clients and regulatory agencies. Computer programming skills using Fortran, Python, R, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), or other programming language is required. Ability to work and collaborate effectively in a virtual environment with other BC offices and staff. Experience with databases including MS Access is preferred. Experience with parameter estimation and uncertainty analysis, especially use of PEST, PEST++, and PESTPP-IES is preferred. 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification training a plus. Highly organized, reliable, and able to work well with others. Candidate must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, unless candidate qualifies for an exemption based on the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 or Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, where a reasonable accommodation may be granted if approved by GSI management upon hiring.
