Base Wage $20.00-$22.00 per hour based on education and experience  
Description

Child Care Resource & Referral of Midwestern Illinois / Child Care Connection is growing! We are seeking relationship builders to join our team as Higher Education Navigators!

  • A Day in the Life of a Higher Education Navigator could include:
  • Meeting with College Staff to create pathways for current child care providers to complete classes and degrees
  • Coaching and problem solving with providers and other stakeholders around professional development planning
  • Strengthening the child care system to attract and build the child care workforce through outreach and community events
  • Navigating alongside providers in the enrollment and scholarship steps at individual colleges and universities

Examples of Essential Functions include the following, others may be assigned:

  • Plan, publicize, and facilitate informational/educational sessions.
  • Provide support on assessing needs, sharing information, and higher education opportunities through phone calls, email, in-person / virtual meetings.
  • Build relationships with key staff at ECE programs at 2- and 4-year colleges and universities
  • Conduct outreach activities to members of the ECE workforce in matters related to the recruitment, technical assistance, and informational outreach.
  • Collect information on barriers to higher education
  • Complete follow-up activities with individual workforce members, community partners, and data tracking.
  • Attend team meetings and coordinate with members of Child Care Resource & Referral team in collaborative agency activities.
  • Be flexible to adjust schedule to nights and weekends occasionally required

SALCS operates Skip-a-Long Child Development Services - early care and education centers in Iowa and Illinois, The Home Child Care Network - a network of licensed and license-exempt home child care providers in both the Quad Cities and Peoria areas, Open Door - a crisis assistance program funded by IDHS to help individuals and families in crisis navigate local social services, SAL Child Care Connection - the child care resource and referral program in Peoria, IL, the Child Care Resource and Referral of Midwestern Illinois that serves the Illinois Quad Cities and surrounding counties, and Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships that serve Rock Island, Henry, and Mercer Counties in Illinois.
