Two openings are currently available for Grounds Maintenance/Custodian in the Utility Services Department. Working out of doors in all weather and conditions, overall duties of this position include, but are not limited to: cleaning, repairing and servicing all equipment used in grounds maintenance; maintaining grounds in a clean and orderly manner by mowing, raking, sweeping, digging, planting and maintaining bushes, shrubs, trees, grass, etc. as necessary through the use of hand tools or motorized vehicles to keep facilities clean and in a well-kept condition; landscaping new ground areas, repairing damaged ground areas, replacing bushes, hedges, shrubs and trees; applying herbicide and pesticide chemicals to grounds, trees, bushes, shrubs and lawns in order to control plant diseases and insects, arranging supplies, equipment, boxes, furniture and other items in a neat and orderly manner; utilizing a variety of tools and equipment such as shovels, rakes, riding mower, push mower, weed eater, wheel barrel, brooms, garden hoses, etc. and performing other duties for Dalton Utilities as required.
Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
Must be able to obtain a CDL learner's permit within 12 months and CDL permit within 24 months.
This position is Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., with some occasional overtime.
Required Skills:
Ability to use a range hand and power tools as needed to perform job duties.
Pay Range: $15.50/hr. - $21.00/hr.
