United Mailing Services, Inc. has been in business since 1990 and began in the basement of the owner’s home. The company is privately owned, which does business with the United States Postal Service. UMS picks up corporate mail, co-mingles, and sorts mail by address to achieve discounts offered by the USPS.

Under the direct supervision of the VP of Operations & Technology, this position is approximately 80% development and 20% IT support, maintenance, & project implementation. We are developing new quality control tools and building new business systems in accounting and operations. This position will be our sole programmer, the ability to work on coding projects independently is imperative.


Responsibilities for UMS Developer/Programmer:


  • Implementation, monitoring, and maintaining all of the web and administration systems within UMS
  • Interfacing with production systems and will support other departments with software/database expertise
  • Participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure
  • Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related components adhere to organizational values, policies, and procedures
  • Assist in projects in a team setting occasionally as well as primarily working independently to develop, maintain, or upgrade current or new systems
Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

• A postsecondary degree in a computer-related field, or relevant professional IT experience.
• Working knowledge of Visual Studio
• Basic knowledge of MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and database management.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Active Directory, Linux.
• Basic knowledge of networking technologies: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, Firewall, VPN, Wi-Fi.
• Basic knowledge of VOIP PBX and handsets.
• Basic knowledge of website management.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
