We are seeking a Technical Engineer to support our Managed Services Division (MSD) in a remote/telework/work from home capacity. This position is anticipated to be mostly remote/virtual/telework/work from home, with the requirement to work on-site at customer locations on as as-needed basis. *The selected candidate must reside in the Mid to Southern New Hampshire, Northern Massachusetts, or Southern Vermont areas.*

 

Sawdey’s Managed Services Division (MSD) is a full-service Managed Service Provider (MSP)/Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) providing IT and/or cybersecurity services to a variety of different clients (defense/government contractors, municipalities, commercial organizations, etc.).

 

The Technical Engineer is responsible for assisting with the planning, designing, implementing, and maintaining of external IT solutions for commercial customers. This position requires someone with Tier 2 knowledge and capabilities. This includes Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) technical design and implementation. Please note, while Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) technical design and implementation is applicable to many of our clients, candidates are not required to be CMMC experts upon joining Sawdey and can be trained accordingly.

Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To:

  • Perform the installation, maintenance, and general support of client IT systems.
  • Assist end-users with questions and problems by working tickets submitted to the service desk via the ConnectWise Manage system.
  • Communicate and collaborate with employees, clients, and colleagues in a professional, respectful, and timely manner.
  • Responsible for supporting Managed Services work/contracts inclusive of CMMC technical design and implementation, risk analysis, penetration testing, asset management, helpdesk support, ticket creation and response, network design, and overall client management.
  • Work in concert with the established Sawdey CMMC team on business development activities and attending conferences and webinars when required.
  • May support Sawdey’s internal CMMC compliance effort to include all aspects of the technical design and implementation required to achieve CMMC level 2.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Assist with proposal development, if necessary.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Experience:

  • Five (5) + years of IT related experience.
  • Four (4) + years’ experience working with networks, servers, and cloud-based systems.
  • Must have Tier 2 knowledge and capabilities.

  • Vulnerability Scanning and Management
  • Configuration Management and Maintenance
  • IT and Compliance Documentation
  • Helpdesk Management
  • Client, Project, and Ticket Management

 

Desired Experience:

  • National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Frameworks such as NIST Special Publication (SP) 800-53, 800-171, and Cybersecurity Framework (CSF).
  • Managed Services

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an IT related field desired.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

The following certifications are desired, but not required:

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP)

 

Other Required Skills & Abilities:

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with customer and fulfill all duties and responsibilities as listed in the contract.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite including, but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Must be able to communicate and collaborate with corporate employees, clients, and colleagues in a professional, respectful, and timely manner.
  • Must have daily and accurate time entry accounting for an average of at least 6 hours in the form of service ticket notes.
  • Must be able and willing to recognize when it is necessary to escalate a service ticket and seek technical expertise from others without unnecessarily burdening other team members.
  • Must be able to articulate technical information to non-technical people.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-directed with the ability to work with minimal direction and oversite.
  • Must be able to pay very close attention to detail.
  • Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Must be able to use personal smartphone device on an as-needed basis to perform job-related tasks such as supporting on-call rotation, accessing Microsoft Teams and Outlook, and enabling/signing into MFA applications.
    • Please Note: Incoming and Outgoing calls are made via an assigned extension in Microsoft Teams desktop. There is no requirement to use a personal smartphone device to support phone calls.

 

Security Clearance:

  • Must be able to obtain a favorable background check.

 

US Citizenship:

  • This position supports a U.S. Government Contract whose terms require Sawdey Solution Services to staff it only with U.S. Citizens.
