Summer Intern (Environmental Health & Safety)

March 2023

Duration: Expected to begin sometime in May, the target is a M-F, 8-5 work schedule with some flexibility based on business conditions and management approval. Expected to finish internship assignment sometime in late July or early August but willing to be flexible based on student schedule.

Expectation: It’s expected that the project(s) this intern works on will culminate in an end of assignment formal presentation to the senior leadership team.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Working in the Human Resources(HR)/Operations Department, assigned to the Head of HR or their designate for day-to-day direction and project assignment, check in and successful completion

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • Actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree and a current junior or senior status, prefer specific degree or coursework in EH&S
  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • A sense of business acumen with a general understanding of fundamental business principals
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills with ability to collaborate and build a consensus

What is the specific assignment and responsibilities:

  • Conduct full analysis on current program(s)/system(s)
  • Development and enact enhancements to current program(s)/system(s)

 

What specific outcome would you be looking for from their time with you?

 

  • The Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) will be and deliverables: Developed from initial analysis, make formal recommendation(s) for enhancement(s) to current system(s) program. Success gauged on depth and breadth of overall recommendation.

 

Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time. May at times be required to work with some chemicals and/or bonding agents. Must be able to life and manipulate 25lb objects, sometimes overhead. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
