JOB SUMMARY:

  • Provides leadership and management of all aspects of the hospital and clinic based Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Service Line including Orthopedic Surgery, Sports Medicine, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy.
  • Partners with physician and organizational leadership to develop plans for financial performance, clinical quality, service excellence and patient centered priorities.
  • Overall accountability for Service Line operation and financial performance including budget, turnover, staffing, policy and procedures, regulatory guidelines, project management and Patient First/Loyalty initiatives.
  • Directs and develops the services in all areas of the Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Service Line.
  • Responsible for daily management and operation of these departments in accordance with the service line goals and objectives and in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Plans for new services, controls, coordinates and evaluates the work, productivity, and quality improvement outcomes of the service line and ensures these services align with organizational strategic, financial, and operational priorities.
  • Must adhere to established organizational policies and safety guidelines and possess problem solving abilities, excellent customer service skills and Patient First characteristics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The associate must be able to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • The associate must manage all services and staffing.
  • Responsible for departmental strategic plan development.

  • Hires, disciplines and counsels all associates regarding appropriate behaviors.
  • Completes all reports, policies and procedures.
  • Communicates hospital status/goals to departmental associates.
  • Organizes and facilitates effective meetings.
  • Accountable for departmental financials, staff performance and personal behavior.
  • Makes sure the performance and productivity of all staff are evaluated on a regular basis throughout the year and annually. Advises on appropriate corrective actions and development opportunities.
  • Collaborates in review of data on patient outcomes, quality assurance results, budget/goal achievement, and performance/productivity with appropriate leadership.
  • Participates in medical practice planning related to clinic and emergency/disaster response system.

  • Comprehension of service line-specific associate duties and processes.
  • Promotes the service line through ongoing marketing within the medical community and the community at large.
  • Knowledge of supervisory, human resources, and quality-improvement principles and techniques.
  • Knowledge of clinical state-of-the-art advancements and trends in health care.
  • Collaborates with organizational leadership to assure cohesive operations between clinical and business interests of the practice.
  • Attend management meetings as scheduled.
  • Collaborates in review of data on patient outcomes, quality assurance results, budget/goal achievement, and performance/productivity with operations director and business manager.
  • Participates in medical practice planning related to clinic and emergency/disaster response system.

MANDATORY LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

The following licenses/certifications are required:

CPR (Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation)

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: Registered Nurse (RN), Physical Therapy (PT), or Occupational Therapy (OT) license; CPR

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Master’s in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration preferred.
  • Mandatory Annual Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Confidentiality-HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance.
  • Annual Unit Specific Competencies, and all education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
