Description

We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist:

Northern’s Human Resources Department is seeking an experienced, dynamic, self-motivated, career minded individual to join a team of professionals that are dedicated to improving the lives of our members, their families, and our communities. Key attributes for success in this position include:

Job Responsibilities:

  • The ideal individual will be responsible for coordinating, completing, and assisting with various HR functions in a telecommuting environment to support Northern’s growth and direction;
  • Proactively supports the administration of Northern’s employee payroll systems and effectively performs related duties;
  • Collaborates with vendors to find right fit benefits products for Northern’s employees and administers benefits;
  • Assists with the overall onboarding process process for new team members as well as ongoing HR related training for all employees;
  • Assists with a variety of HR related projects including the creation and revision of job descriptions;
  • Develops and/or revises policies, procedures, and processes to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations;
  • Leads, motivates, and participates in employee recognition programs and other organizational activities;
  • Proactively evaluates and recommends improvements in Human Resources practices that will further the objectives of the department and Credit Union; and
  • Positively participates in additional responsibilities as requested and collaborates with various internal owners to facilitate Northern’s objectives.
 
Position Requirements
  • Associate’s degree in a related field with 6 months to 2 years of directly related experience required. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Special consideration given to those with a PHR or related certification;
  • Energetic connection to the goals and challenges of individuals and teams, natural compassion for others, excellent listening, communication, relationship building, and working well in a team environment are required;
  • Must exhibit sound, independent judgment and have a proven track record for multi-tasking and proactively creating improvements while performing duties in a fast paced environment;
  • The ideal candidate will actively consult with other departments and must demonstrate confidence and the ability to work outside of their specific department in a participative management, team based environment;
  • Comprehensive understanding of industry related compliance and regulation matters;
  • Very proactive with a high level of initiative to follow-up as needed;
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change, enjoys a progressive and fast paced work environment, possesses organization and time management skills, and is self-motivated; and
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, Work, Excel in addition to HRIS, Talent Management and other cloud based systems is highly preferred;
