Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Director of Behavioral Health (DBH) is primarily responsible for day-to-day oversight, clinical operations, directing and leading the wellness, mental health counseling, and substance use recovery operations. In addition to those primary responsibilities, the DBH will oversee the execution of wellness programing and work collaboratively with the VWC Wellness Practitioner to ensure services are coordinated and available for clients and staff.

 

The DBH (SA) will be responsible for staff training and developing resources to provide best practice and evidence-based treatment to clients. The DBH will provide support in writing grants and researching diversified funding opportunities that pertain to mental health counseling, substance use recovery, peer support and case management. The DBH (SA) will have primary responsibility for completing and executing funder requirements and grant/funder deliverables directly overseen by this position. The DBH will lead activities during and in preparation for all accreditation, licensing, or other audits and surveys.

 

The DBH must have an understanding and recent performance of evidence-based interventions, grant writing, research and understand Military, Veterans, Law Enforcement, and their family members’ needs. They should also understand mental health operations, treatment and interventions. This position may be a community spokesperson for the behavioral health capabilities that Endeavors provides in Texas.

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee all clinical functions for Endeavors Behavioral Health and support Wellness in San Antonio, including the accumulating of outcome data tracking and reporting KPI’s to leadership.
  • Assist, guide, and support other staff with process improvements and budget planning, to include expenditures, & funds.
  • Is responsible for the program budgets, expenditures and tracking trends.
  • Assist, support, and guide all mental health and substance use recovery contracts and grant writing and funding opportunities with the Regional Director for Clinical Services.
  • Collaboratively work with the Wellness Practitioner to implement new programs, contract and grant requirements, and funder deliverables.
  • Manage relationship with the program funders, including overseeing performance measurement (e.g., clinical and operational outcomes reporting) as appropriate.
  • Track and complete funder deliverables, audits and surveys.
  • Provide clinical support and supervision to the department as needed to include clinically supervising of an Intern(s) or Provisionally licensed staff.
  • Participate in, organize, and train staff in established Endeavors policies and standards.
  • Manage Community Outreach and Communication to program population groups to ensure communities take full advantage of the Clinic's services.
  • Represent Endeavors at conferences, meetings of service providers within the community, and liaising with other Veteran-service organizations at the local and national level to maintain partnerships and share work of the clinic specifically related to mental health and substance abuse recovery.
  • Provide direct clinical treatment to clients.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service, in everything you do, by placing the child, family, or client first to support our mission to “Empower people to build better lives for themselves, their families and their communities.”

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Preferred: At least a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work/Counseling/Psychology or related mental health field. Must have acquired all related state licensures and/or certifications including the Texas supervising credential. Specialized training and experience in evidenced based treatment of trauma and serious mental illness required.

EXPERIENCE: Preferred: At least two (2) years of experience with managerial/supervisory responsibilities and clinical leadership experience is required. Preferred 5 years of supervisory experience. Experience across a range of modalities beyond individual adult treatment to include children, couples, and family treatment is preferred. Must have experience utilizing and supporting clinical providers with evidence based interventions. Must demonstrate grant writing experience, leadership capacity and ability to foster team-building and a supportive, flexible environment.

LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record required. Active State of Texas full clinical licensure with the credential to supervise.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

WORK LOCATION: Must be able to work from home in a private space and/or transition to an on-site location as space and public health response allows.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs. Willingness to work other duties as required. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others. Employee should expect to work one evening a week and weekend days as needed to accommodate the operations.
