Young Adult Therapist - Early Psychosis Care

Purpose:

Wyandot Behavioral Health Network (WBHN) is seeking a dedicated Therapist to join our Early Psychosis Intervention Care (EPIC) team. The Therapist serves as the individual clinician within a coordinated specialty team for youth and young adults (15-36) experiencing psychosis for the first time. Utilizing multiple psychosis-focused tools such as CBTp and other appropriate interventions, the Therapist provide individualized therapy to each client to support empowerment over disruptive symptoms, meaning-making of their experiences, self-directed recovery goals, and maximizing independent participation in the community. This position is field-based and reports to the Manager of the Young Adult Program.

Job Location(s):

  • This position will be based at the Young Adult 734 Armstrong office location.
  • Assigned duties will require activity at other Center locations and at various sites in the community.

Essentail Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate development of resiliency and coping skills to reduce impact of distressing symptoms
  • Provide education and understanding of psychosis utilizing clients’ individual beliefs and culture as context
  • Assist in identifying strengths and developing personal goals to support recovery
  • Provide specialized therapeutic interventions as appropriate to individual need, training, and experience
  • Works with team members, community partners, and service organizations to closely collaborate care and other community services or resources
  • Familiarizes individuals with appropriate community resources for educational, cultural, and social activities
  • Works with crisis response services within agency and community to support clients in crisis as needed
  • Offers quarterly to bi-annual therapy groups and educates clients on other group opportunities within agency and community
  • Completes assessments for diagnostic clarity and appropriateness of fit for program, using least restrictive and collaborative approach whenever possible
  • Works within client’s family system and social supports at client’s direction to provide support

Other Job Functions:

  • Complies with all relevant center policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as deemed appropriate by immediate supervisor or designate.
 
Position Requirements

Minimmum Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or other mental health related field
  • Licensed by the Kansas Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board
  • Passion for helping individuals new to mental health services and honoring others’ individuality and autonomy
  • Skilled at coordinating with staff, community partners, and service agencies
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including both verbal and written
  • Ability to recognize and be sensitive to cultural and ethnic differences
  • Engagement and outreach skills to establish relationships with individuals and family systems
  • Ability to initiate and develop solutions in clinical and other job related situations

Shift Days  
Hours Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm  
Pay Range Starting at 60k Monthly, Salary (for advance clinical license it would be starting at 65k)
