Description

LCSW, College Counselor needed for temporary, full-time position.

The Counselor provides individual and group counseling, workshops, and discussion groups for students They respond to psychological crises, provides consultation and outreach to members of the community who work with students. The Counselor serves as a member of the Student Affairs team, as well as collaborating with other cross-divisional colleagues as needed.

  • Provide professional individual and group counseling for students.
  • Respond to psychological emergencies in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Provide consultation to faculty and staff on student psychological concerns.
  • Collaborate with campus departments to deliver psycho-education programming and outreach on student mental health; coordinates and the assessment of these programs.
  • Conducting clinical substance use assessments and treatment and/or provides referrals.
  • Assisting with ongoing assessment related to services and student use of alcohol and other drugs.
  • Assisting with planning, writing and submission of the Biennial Review.
 
Position Requirements
  • Master’s degree in counseling, psychology or social work.
  • Current NJ License as a LCSW
  • Proven experience with a college population or adolescents/young adults.
  • Knowledge of current health, mental health, and social issues on college campuses.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, sensitivity to, and ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Public speaking ability.
  • Ability to create and utilize electronic records and basic office technology.
