The primary purpose of the Sports Information Director is to promote and provide publicity for all aspects of the NAIA/NCCAA Intercollegiate Athletic programs. This is accomplished primarily through print and electronic media, internet, and publications as well as overseeing home events, game management, home stats, live streaming, and audio/visual at all home athletic events.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Sports Information Director will report directly to the Athletic Director and will assist in overseeing all aspects of operating a successful intercollegiate athletic program. The candidate must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to cover sporting events and activities.
Sports Information Director
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
General Operations:
- Daily maintenance and updating as needed of the department’s website
- Create media needs pre- and post- competition in a timely manner
- Write, edit, and disseminate
- Press Releases
- Season Previews
- Hirings
- Athletic news surrounding student-athletes, coaches, teams
- Interview coaching staff and student-athletes
- Oversee Media Days/Photography
- Maintain social media sites for department-wide athletic pages
- Ensure flow of information is timely and accurate
- Maintain historical archives (records, statistics, photographs, etc.) to ensure program history is preserved
- Monitor public perception for the athletics program and all athletic teams
- Maintain communication with local paper, surrounding news outlets, and student athlete hometown paper
Stats
- Oversee and implement gameday press box and scorer’s table for all home events
- Dakstats/Presto
Scheduling
- Serve as department schedule coordinator for athletic events
- Work as liaison with campus event coordinators
- Scheduling, organizing and hosting of non-OCU athletic events (OCSAA, Special Olympics, local high schools, etc.)
- Ensure coaches submit schedules that are complete and in compliance with NAIA/NCCAA rules
- Communicate with necessary individuals to reserve athletic facilities
- Ensure coaches are aware of all events by updating department calendar and departmental communication
Awards
- Weekly POTW Awards for NAIA/NCCAA/NCCAA
- NAIA/NCCAA/RSC Voting and Nominating
- Scholar Team and Athlete Nominations
- Communicate award deadlines to coaches for NAIA/NCCAA/NCCAA
- Organize and operate athletic award events
- Provide oversight, management and maintenance of Athletic Hall of Fame
Athletics Administrative Assistant
The primary purpose of the Athletics Administrative Assistant is to assist athletics administration in both internal and external operations related to the functioning of Ohio Christian University athletics.
Operations
- Assist Athletics Administration in day-to-day operations and long-term projects
- Schedule monthly individual staff and departmental meetings
- Assist in coordinating meetings by ensuring agendas are created prior to meetings, minutes are taken during meetings, and final reports are disseminated to the proper constituents
- Manage schedules for athletics and athletics administration
- Schedule usage of facilities through Function Tracker
- Assist in monthly coach recruit meetings
- Update and maintain SONIS for athletic scholarships
- Screen incoming calls for athletics
- Organize and sort athletic mail
- Manage office inventory/supplies
- Assign, track and organize receipts
- Create check requests for athletics
- Collect attendance reports
- Assist with department communication
- Provide project support
- General Administrative Assistant responsibilities
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director
REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education, Training and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communication, Journalism, Broadcasting, Sport Management or related field
- 2-3 years relevant experience or a combination of education and experience working in a collegiate athletic environment
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification (current)
- Previous experience in higher education
- Experience in spiritual mentoring and development
- Skill and Ability:
- Experience with Microsoft Suite (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience with Marketing (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok)
- Experience with Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Premier, Lightroom etc.)
- Experience with additional website, photo and video editing platforms and applications
