Essential Duties
1. Supports the Vision of The State Bank and Trust Company in order to provide high quality, integrated financial services and products to the clients and communities we serve. Our success is dependent on a relentless effort toward building relationships and partnerships, adding value to clients and communities. The State Bank and Trust Company strives to fulfill this Vision by providing consistent first-class customer experiences, by creating an environment that will attract and retain quality people, by consistently enhancing shareholder value through our operation as a community financial service organization, and by being a socially responsible citizen in our communities by sharing our resources through leadership, support, and involvement.
2. Manages the Wealth Management Division in order to meet the trust, estate, and employee benefits services needs of customers within the market area as follows:
a. Coordinates the development of various trust and investment customer service/sales reports and information as requested.
b. Provides ideas for new products and services.
c. Provides direct trust services to customers including trust and estate administration, estate planning, and investment counseling; interviews prospective clients; visits their residences or places of business.
d. Maintains an awareness of new business opportunities with customers; actively refers customers to other customer service personnel.
e. Establishes Company objectives for the maintenance and development of corporate and personal trust business; directs the formulation and execution of plans and programs designed to achieve established Company objectives.
f. Works closely with individual department officers on specific programs to achieve objectives in each designated area.
g. Formulates policies and procedures relating to trust and estate administration, employee benefits services, and the general operation of the Division; establishes appropriate management controls to assure that established policies and procedures are being followed and that the Division is operating on a sound basis.
h. Attends meetings of the Board of Directors; reviews and submits periodic reports of various types and from committee meetings to this Board for their approval.
i. Assumes responsibility for administration and discharge of the Division's legal responsibility for all trust accounts through committee structure.
c. Maintains an active awareness of changes in legal requirements which may affect trust accounts.
d. Develops trust marketing programs and maintains the Wealth Management Division's public image, i.e., cooperates and supports national and state trust organizations regarding law changes, educational programs, and communication, and initiates local programs, i.e., public trust-related education programs and attorney communication programs
e. Determines profitability of the Division as follows:
1) Analyzes fee schedule.
2) Maintains projections of income and expenses.
3) Determines profitability of accounts; prepares plans of action for those not profitable.
3. Plans, controls, and manages the Wealth Management Division's resources toward established objectives by performing various executive management duties of which the following are illustrative:
a. Plans and controls policies and practices of the Wealth Management Division and its resources in order to ensure compliance with policies of the Board and regulatory requirements; maintains an active knowledge of operations to insure this compliance.
b. Communicates and participates with the President and Chief Executive Officer of The State Bank and Trust Company and the Board regarding all decisions affecting the Wealth Management Division that must be made at the Board level as follows:
1) Participates in establishing strategic organization and profit plans for the Wealth Management Division;
2) Coordinates the development of short and long-term profit and objectives;
3) Participates in reviewing financial and operating statements;
4) Actively participates in activities relating to authorizing capital expenses and acquisition or disposal of assets when required;
5) Establishes management policies and procedures which support corporate plans;
6) Implements directives of the President and Chief Executive Officer of The State Bank and Trust Company and the Board.
4. Develops, implements, and achieves annual goals and objectives as established in the Wealth Management Division's annual operating plan as follows:
a. Allocates the Wealth Management Division's resources, e.g., human, financial, etc., toward tasks required to achieve goals and objectives.
b. Directs, through appropriate management and supervisory personnel, day-to-day activities in support of the Wealth Management Division's objectives.
c. Measures effectiveness and performance of the systems and people.
d. Develops resources, as appropriate, to improve efficiency and productivity.
e. Assists in the development of the annual budget and adheres to budget parameters.
f. Actively pursues further penetration of the Wealth Management Division's market by performing various duties of which the following are illustrative:
1) Make business development and general service/public relations calls on present and prospective customers;
2) Provide direct service to customers, e.g., trust and investment services.
3) Maintains active community involvement in order to project a positive image of the Wealth Management Division and support business development activities.
5. Organizes Division management, i.e., structure, human resources, etc., in order to achieve objectives.
6. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
7. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management, overall safety and soundness, and the bank's compliance with all regulatory requirements, e.g. Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Equal Credit Opportunity Act, etc. and ensures that the department and all personnel adhere to the same.
8. Directly supervises assigned management and support personnel as follows:
a. Selects new personnel.
b. Makes provisions for the proper orientation and training of new personnel.
c. Reviews employee performance throughout the probationary period and on a regularly scheduled basis thereafter.
d. Organizes, schedules, and distributes work among assigned personnel.
e. Keeps personnel informed of pertinent policies and procedures affecting Division management and/or their jobs; creates an atmosphere in which upward communication from employees is encouraged.
f. Administers personnel policies and procedures as established by the SB Financial Group's policies.
9. Communicates and interfaces with management personnel throughout the Wealth Management Division in order to integrate objectives and activities.
10. Provides periodic reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer of The State Bank and Trust Company, the Board of Directors, and other groups, committees, or individuals as required.
