Description

The Group Dining Sales Manager is a highly visible sales and management position involving selling, planning, scheduling, coordinating and execution of contracted private party/large group dining events and corporate bulk gift card sales. The Sales Manager must maintain a high level of daily selling activity (personal visits, prospecting calls, lead generation etc…) ensuring the ability to consistently meet and exceed sales objectives as well as ensure the team is meeting its goals. This position reports to the Bold Catering Director of Sales.

This position requires excellent organizational skills and an understanding of the overall operations of the restaurant business. The Sales Manager must have exceptional people skills and possess the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues and clients, and to develop a high performing sales team. In addition, the Sales Manager must exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment, diplomacy, flexibility, and discretion in the performance of assigned duties.

Management/Operations/Marketing

  • Complete commitment to good management practices by fulfilling business plan objectives by having weekly, period and quarterly priority planning within a structured time management system.
  • Effective cross functional collaboration with operations, FGR support, directors, managers, and restaurants.
  • Responsible for managing from and makes all decisions based on FGR's values, purpose and mission with our guests' and employees' interest in mind.
  • Maintain strategic relationships and key accounts of Client portfolios.
  • Expected to have honest, open communication with staff, managers, and owners.
  • Participate in the creation of and managing from the annual business plan under DOS supervision.
  • Participate in the development and management of BAE's marketing/sales plan under DOS supervision.

Large Party Sales

  • Responsible for solicitation and booking of events in specifically assigned market segments and/or geographic areas.
  • Clear understanding of and ability to express company identity, concept, position, and event options.
  • Full knowledge of food and beverage products.
  • Must understanding FOH and BOH operational procedures/concerns as they relate to large parties.
  • Must have complete knowledge of restaurant capabilities.
  • Responsible for fielding all incoming calls/inquiries and qualifying their potential on a timely basis.
  • Responsible for aggressive prospecting including obtaining leads and making cold calls to prospective clients, as well as organize for follow-up.
  • Responsible for scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings to discuss details and requirements for events. Effectively communicate with client and FOH/BOH restaurant staff on all specifications for their event.
  • Responsible for scheduling and executing site tours and inspections.
  • Provide client with innovative and timely proposals exhibiting thorough knowledge of their needs as pertains to menu selections, beverage preferences, budget, and all aspects of event planning.
  • Responsible for proposing cost effective, profitable menus.
  • Responsible for writing and pricing contracts.
  • Responsible for demonstrating skills and ability to close on sales in accordance with expectations standards and policies.
  • Responsible for securing all deposits and payments associated with contracts and follow up with clients regarding A/R and overdue balances.
  • Responsible for developing client base resulting in maximum repeat business.
  • Establish and cultivate strategic relationships with top accounts and target accounts, through regularly scheduled follow-up and appointments.
  • Develop strategic relationships with competitors to generate referral business.
  • Responsible for consistently meeting and exceeding weekly, monthly, and annual budgeted sales objectives.
  • Responsible for reporting on all production and sales forecasting and other information requested to the Director of Sales on a weekly basis.
  • Represent Fifth Group Restaurants and actively participate in professional organizations for target clients when appropriate.
  • Keep current on industry trends. Evaluate competition on a bi-annual basis through site inspections, menu pricing etc.
  • Be knowledgeable of profit and loss statements regarding cost of sales and budgeted mark ups.
  • Responsible for participating in yearly business planning as well as marketing plans to drive sales.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 5+ years of experience in hospitality or related industry
  • 2 years of successful sales management experience
  • Proven track record in all aspects of the sales process:
  • Understanding the company's identity
  • Prospecting and obtaining qualified leads.
  • Setting appointments
  • Writing and pricing proposals & contracts
  • Closing sales
  • Payments and collections
  • On-going event/client management
  • Post-event/client follow-up
  • Cultivating strategic relationships
  • Meeting sales and production targets
  • Managing administrative tasks efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and listening skills)
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and Catering software

Position Requirements

Basic skills and responsibilities include:

  • Ability to develop a clear understanding and express company in order to solicit and book events and sell bulk gift cards
  • Full knowledge of food and beverage products
  • Knowledge of restaurant capabilities and Front of House and Back of House operations
  • Identifying and obtaining prospecting opportunities for events and gift card sales and following through
  • Scheduling and conducting site tours and inspections
