Strategic Vendor Manager  


Position Summary: The Strategic Vendor Manager will oversee the relationships, agreements, and growth of strategic vendors. This position will collaborate closely with the CRO, President, Legal, District Vice Presidents, Directors, Branch Managers, Director of Specialty Products and Account Managers to identify potential targets for growth and coordinate resources. Lead the relationship activities and interfaces of the above groups to ensure mutually beneficial outcomes. All focused on achieving customer satisfaction, revenue generation, and long-term profitably goals in line with Company vision and values.



  • Build and maintain good relationships with strategic vendors and taking the lead to address any concerns.
  • Researching new vendors and innovations to develop channel partnerships and exclusive market strategies.
  • Communicating with the vendors and performing the quality check, dealing with the price and improvements
  • Establishing standards and analyzing performance based on those standards to determine future opportunities.
  • Regularly analyzing the sales trends to understand the market value of various products.
  • Interacting with new vendors to explain the expectations and responsibilities.
  • Maintain awareness and understanding in evolving and trending technologies in Specialty Products and the safety and cost savings impacts they may have for the company and its customers.
  • Provides leadership to the sales organization and counsel to the leadership team, in implementing product deployment that appropriately reflect the company’s business goals.
  • Tracks and analyzes KPIs for growth, win/loss rates, upsells, renewals, sales attainment and identifies vendor performance areas for improvement.
  • Meet with Vendors regularly to provide the following areas but not limited too –
    • Collaborate with key vendors to understand the direction of the industry and review the state of the industry to better leverage RSTS for success.
    • Communicate RSTS commitment to the development and advancement of the industry.
    • Travel required to visit vendors HQ and production facilities.
  • Facilitate sales strategy sessions with vendors to align on unique value of products to RoadSafe customers.
  • Adheres to all company policies and Code of Business Ethics and ensures that they are communicated to vendors.
  • Aids in organizing and facilitating collaborative sales process between Account Mgrs. and manufacturer's reps. Collaborative efforts include joint sales calls, visits to DOT personnel, lunch and learns with design engineers.
  • Regular communication with Account Mgrs. to understand needs and developments in each market to gain understanding of how developing technologies may address them.
Position Requirements


  • 10+ years of related senior sales experience or relevant industry knowledge.
  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA or other directly applicable advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven Experience in dealing with vendors with negotiation and decision-making skills.
  • Experience working in government, utility, rail, industrial, and educational enterprises that require traffic control, traffic safety, traffic direction and related equipment and services.
  • Strong analytical skills and excellent planning, analysis, organization, communication, and presentation skills
  • Skilled communicator, able to distill complex issues to straightforward concepts.
  • Strong collaboration, teamwork, and partnership skills
