Description

Summary: The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading the day-to-day shift cleaning of the warehouse according to the Company's Master Sanitation Schedule; direct training of sanitation personnel and ensure compliance food safety policies and procedures; and must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty listed below. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Daily supervision of sanitation personnel including, but not limited to, assigning specific tasks and areas of work, ensuring personnel are working safely, efficiently and in compliance with company and sanitation standards related to food safety and workplace safety.
  • Create and maintain a positive working team environment to promote employee morale and productivity.
  • Execute the Master Sanitation Schedule.
  • Conduct pre-shift team meetings and ensure sanitation personnel understand their daily tasks and are held accountable for their responsibilities.
  • Monitor completed shift sanitation tasks and cleanliness of the facility.
  • Create a work environment that reflects a commitment to protecting the health and safety of employees, food safety and quality of products.
  • Empower sanitation personnel to act to resolve food safety issues within their scope of work.
  • Ensure employees are positively encouraged and required to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues.
  • Maintain inventory of sanitation chemicals and supplies.
  • Lead safety awareness training for chemical handling and train staff on proper usage of sanitation supplies and equipment, chemicals, and test protocols for sanitation chemicals.
  • Complete reports regarding sanitation inspections, sanitation violations, and corrective actions taken.
  • Recommend changes to improve sanitary design, sanitation policies, procedures and standards.
  • Work closely with Operations Management, Facilities Management and personnel to resolve sanitation-related concerns.
  • Investigate all sanitation and food safety issues and applies corrective actions as needed.
  • Actively participate in audits, facility inspections, and incident/injury investigations to discover root causes.
  • Support employee relations, resolution of employee issues, and report personnel disciplinary and performance concerns to the Director of Operations.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.
  • Must be available after work hours to respond to urgent sanitation matters and/or emergencies.

Education and Experience

  • 3 years of food warehouse experience required; food warehouse sanitation experience preferred.
  • 1 year of supervisory experience preferred.

Skills/Abilities

  • Must be bilingual in English and Spanish
  • Excellent supervisory, people management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strength.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization and time management skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize workload, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient with Microsoft suite.
  • Good record keeping and program management.
  • Ability to handle conflict with a positive and practical approach and attitude.
  • Must be able to use, or learn to use, all equipment and tools used to perform the job.
  • Must successfully pass a controlled substance screening test.
  • Must adhere to all safety practices and company policies.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Physical Requirements: The physical requirements described here are representative of those required of the Sanitation Supervisor to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
    • Occasionally lift, push, or more product that weigh 1-75 pounds, up to 100 pounds, using safe lifting practices.
    • Occasionally reach up to 72 inches to stack and unstack pallets.
    • Frequently operate an electric pallet jack or forklift.
    • Occasionally bend and twist while operating a pallet jack or other powered industrial equipment, and retrieving items from lower shelf areas.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the Sanitation Supervisor will constantly work near powered industrial equipment and experience exposure to vibration and moderate to high noise levels. The work environment includes congested and high traffic areas, slippery floors, working alongside forklifts, single pallet jacks, electric walk behind jacks and hand carts. Walking and working on concrete flooring. Duties will require working in varying climates. Temperatures range from below zero in the freezers to 95F degrees or above outdoors. The shift start and end-time fluctuates with the operation's daily needs.
