Summary

The Open Door Assistant Coordinator is responsible for performing professional casework duties and provides self-sufficiency evaluation for individuals and/or families experiencing an immediate crisis mainly with victims or witnesses of crime. This position is responsible for the completion of intake needs and assessments, by navigating and meeting the need to best of one’s ability. Identifies appropriate community resources, ensures clients receive the necessary transitional and long-term services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage caseload to meet expected outcomes and deliverables with case plans that establish SMART goals and demonstrate success criteria.
  • Provide needs assessment on new customers, schedules customer appointments, generates closure letters, and creates and maintain customer files which includes bookkeeping.
  • Connect customers with public and private community resources and provide support.
  • Maintain phone contact and initiate correspondence to determine changes in client's status.
  • Update data pertaining to assigned case load by completing and filing all case records.
  • Understand the emotional, environmental, and psychological problems confronting individuals that are facing crisis, able to relate to people of all ethnic backgrounds.
  • Work both autonomously as well as in a team and in a fast-paced environment.

Minimum Requirements

  • SAL Community Services requires all employees to be fully-vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine and show acceptable proof of documentation. Requests for reasonable accommodation as required under applicable law will be considered.
  • Required: Associate's Degree or experience in social work, social welfare or a closely related field. In lieu of degree, 5+ years of experience working with families in crisis may be allowed. Preferred: Associate's Degree plus 1 or more years experience in crisis management or human services field.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software, Adobe Reader, and other basic computer applications.
  • Maintain high attention to detail. Ability to recognize and identify treatment for risk indicators and establish model approaches for problem solving.
  • Must be willing to travel in and out of community
  • Regularly required to remain in a stationary position, move or traverse, operate computers, use hands/fingers, position self to the ground and then to a standing position and vice versa or from sitting to standing position and vice versa, and detect other’s actions from a distance and close up. The employee must be able to lift 10 pounds. Corrected vision and hearing aids may be used to have capacity for normal range required for seeing/hearing others, greeting others, answering phones, and interacting with others. This position works indoors.
